View Full Version : Shoot To Kill

i often play assault or spec-ops on urban maps and i can't seem to kill as quick as I get killed..
it may sound stupid (ie laugh all you want :) ) but often i start firing before chosen victim and I end up getting killed. is assault or spec ops a good choice for close quarter combat? is there somewhere specific on the body i should be aiming (ie aim for the head and not upper body)? it is better to fire is spurts or just click and hold?
i'm wanting to get my engineers/support combat badges but, grief, if i can't kill someone with assault or spec ops then i've got no hope..
looking for some genuine advise pleeease...
ps: i've unlocked the assault weapon which i always use.

It probably has more to do with the weapons the opponents are using. For example, the g36C (medic gun unlock) and the PKM (support weapon unlock) are big killers at close or far range.
As far as aiming goes try to aim just below the head because the theory goes that first shot neck, second shot head because of recoil. And never click and hold, the recoil will throw your bullets everywhere except where your intended victim is. Rather fire short bursts (1 -3 shots). I use the PKM on urban maps, and I force myself to fire 1 or 2 shots in the general direction of their head and generally they drop. Also use grenades liberally throw them down any corridors, because if it doesn't kill em, it makes em weaker.
But I am no urban expert, just my opinions. Unfortunatley haven't used assault or spec-ops kits in 5 months or so, so advice pertaininmg to those kits is non-existant.

Close quaters =
Engineer basic guns/1st unlock
AT first unlock (DAO PWNS)
If at long range, single shot
If at medium range, short burts (length of burst depending on distance, ie, further away, shorter bursts)
If short range, spam bullets like there's no tommorrow (depending on what gun you're using)
If trying to get support kills/badge/whatever: GO PRONE and open up in their general direction... Use PKM where applicable...
Engineer/DAO kills: RUN INTO THEM firing as quickly as you can... Try get lotsa bullets on target in the shortest possible time...
Hope this helps!

Any assault rifle is a killer. That's all it's built for.
Aim for the head and fire 3 bullets and keep moving while you're shooting.
Press 4 to switch to grenade launcher and practise with that a bit.
Press 3 and you could end up in single shot mode, so look at the bottom of the weapon selector for a 1 or Auto and press 3 again till it's in the right mode.
THEN ... If your ememy is prone [lying down] and you're standing - you're dead if he hits you.
If you're also prone then it becomes a test of skill who is the most accurate.
i.e. :
Standing Vs Crouching = Crouching wins.
Crouching vs Prone = Prone wins.
Of course - you can be standing and hit the prone bloke in the head AND he's not even shooting at you and you'll obviously win. But ... If he is shooting at you then you had better hope that he does not hit you.

like the others said. short bursts from medium range. full auto at close range for spray & pray. single shots for long distance shots and always ZOOM in with your gun's sights for greater accuracy.
my preferred Assault gun is the FN2000 now, Spec Ops is the 1st unlockable gun, Medic's SA80 is awesome for sniping.
the DAO12 is a killer at close range but with multiple targets be always ready to switch to your pistol as reloading in a firefight is certain death. Lately have been using the P90 which has a large clip for close encounters. ;)

Fav gun is definitely the fn2000, otherwise I use the Scar-L although I don't know if it is really any better than the G36c (at least it has a dot sight).
The other tip is, don't run and shoot, especially if you're going to use the G3. Stop, or preferably go prone.
The AK's are also really good weapons.

I am amazed by the AK-47 of the MEC medic. Have been using it for a bit now and dang, that rifle rocks. I get easier kills with that one than with the SCAR-L or G36C. The M16 is also not bad. G3 depends, sometimes I own with it, sometimes I just shoot holes into the air.

yeah, the AK in single shot mode has awesome stopping power, on full auto its a room cleaner! when playing MEC or PLA i choose the AK's over my unlocked weapons all the time!

g36e has homing bullets
stoke
20th June 2006, 10:40 AM
g36e simply stabalises really fast ... BUT ... at long range it does have homing bullets if you're prone.
TIP @ HILBILLY : Watch the crosshairs ... they move ... then they're closest to each other - your bullets will go in the direction you're shooting in, instead of doing the random spray thing.

I found some advise on working the engeneer's gun on sgs forums. It's great for one shot kills - aim for the ehad at short range. most ppl playing engineer are armour whores. if you're a ground pounder it's a bit mroe difficult to get it. I got basic engineer on Karkand in those little alies and stuff. Boom headshot boom headshot boom headshot LOL. If there's two targets, youre screwed. so choose one and kill him right before you die. But fun fun fun all around.
with other shotguns, shoot as fast as posible at close range like they said.

I do like C4 :D
Though I do get driven over a lot as I'm trying to plant it on vehicle

Sneak up on the vehicle from the sides.
And if you do die try and get a squad member to pick up your kit and hit the boom button.

Look left,
Look right,
Look left again,
Then cross
;)
If you want to kamikaze, pick a spawn point away from the action. There's less chance of being surprised, it also means you get more chance to get up to speed.

or distract them by placing C4 on a location and hide in the opposite side where the APC/TANK will mostly try to stay away from it... then sneak up on them.
or load Doobi in a buggy with C4 and tell him that Valhalla awaits when you push the button. :D

most ppl playing engineer are armour whores.
It's actually the other way round. Most armour whores play as engineers, firstly because they team up with other armour whores and so can repair each other's vehicle, secondly because if you really get lost somewhere, you can repair your own vehicle. When I get the chance to play armour, I also pick the engineer kit.
Ruslan74

when playing armor i tend to go as spec ops/AT... dunno why but whenever i play engineer and try to repair the tank in a quiet spot either a sniper caps me or a buddy steals my ride. :chair:
as spec ops/AT i can still them a give fight when my tank/apc gets destroyed....

Playing Armoured fury, EVERYONE plays as an engineer . . . .
Best place to put annoying C4 - inside stuff. Throw a pack or two in the back of a humvee, vodnik or schoolbus. Nobody will notice it's there until they're splattered on the windscreen.
Then run away and keep an eye on the vehicle on the mini map, if it "vanishes" the opposition has taken it and you detonate with extreme prejudice :D

Darnit - it is awesome. BTW - there are still around 2 weeks to go on my guaranteed endorsement. So far there have been no complaints.

Just a quick thanks to all who parted with their invaluable advice.. 2 improvements in my gameplay in the last week..
1) i die less :)
2) IAR, i manage to get 9 kills with medic (vs 3 or 4 previously).. that last kill still escapes me..

I've never played the map - since no-one's on the servers, It's stayed on op harvest all the time I've had it...
But I wanna try out the A-10!!!

I just wanna play AF! there's never anyone on later in the evening :(
The maps are really cool though, all of then. I think the A-10 is actually a much better plane for the BF2 environment.

Heh, they should restrict the A10 to one bomb only.
I *hate* getting bombed by that friggin' plane!

Feral - A10 also on Road Rage
Ruslan74
5th July 2006, 09:10 AM
man... i recall getting nailed by the A10 and the Su39.... the AA locks from too close and by the time the flares are done he is away in the distance... :wall:
we need more than one AA at a time to counter the Warthog and Sukhoi menace...
doobiwan
5th July 2006, 11:24 AM
Not really, you need to lock on from the side and soften it with the AA flak, two hits up the tail pipe seem to bring it down.

5th July 2006, 11:52 AM
I got top score (cept for the filthy commander) on road rage the other night - I was basically raping the USMC plane with the tunguska as it tried to take off. Noooo spank spank spank. Consider me suitably chastised.

You didn't arty it, cartillery it, c4 it or anything else. You "strategically suppressed" it :D Perfectly legal tactic - common Chopper tactic on Sharqi.

5th July 2006, 01:13 PM
the danger for AA is that with so much armour around you dont stand a chance against an enemy tank. :p

Then don't pick a fight with any ;) Go hide near the enemy base.

Surely *someone* sees the thousands of bullets streaming through that well-hidden brown blob in the green forest?
Or, at least, the two missiles frequently leaving the brown blob, leaving streams and trails of smoke in their wake?!

What's the turn around button! quickly!!
In C&C Renegade (an old game, I know..), they had an instant 'turn 180 degrees' button... Useful for RN and other scnhippaz that get knifed ;)

The maps are really cool though, all of then. I think the A-10 is actually a much better plane for the BF2 environment.
It figures since the A10 was designed for close air support and that is what the plains do most of the time in BF2 since the maps are so small in comparison with reality. Might help for the other plains if they had larger flying areas.
For the first problem, get your XFire up. That way you can warn us if you want to move to AF and we cn see you as well.
