Having completed two 12-man raids this afternoon, I am much less afraid about wondering if I am the idiot noob in the group who is going to mess it up. If you make sure there is a hobbit in the group - chances are he will mess it up first.

Seriously though, I completed both the spider wing and giant wing of Helegrod today with some fine chaps. I can't remember their names, or if they were the same 11 for both instances, but it was a heap of fun.

As a hunter there is not much serious responsibility placed on you in group raids, unlike tanks and healers who have to keep their wits about them constantly. Just ensure you're assisting your RAT kill his target and you'll be fine no matter what.

Don't be afraid to join the global channel [that's where all the action takes place] and when a raid comes up, volunteer. You get so lost amongst the other 11 chaps, that even if you do mess up, no one really points and laughs. Unless it is a hobbit :D

Our kin isn't yet at a place where we can build up a 12-man raid on our own, so I encourage you to join others.

I'm off to do the 24 man drake wing (which can only be done after spider and giant), will try take screenies to show you the awesomeness of big raids.

Do you know the fights? Or are they tank and spank?
In wow you can't take on a dungeon without knowing cos you will be dead very quickly if you do.

You have to know them a bit before. I read up on each as they got a group together. These ones were pretty straight forward, there are others that require specific tactics and manevours in order to be successful. I know the latest 12 man raids are timed ones, which require you to know exactly where to go and how long you have to kill mobs in order for you to complete it in challenge mode successfully. I haven't tried those...yet!

Just make sure you're geared properly and have LOTS of lvl 75 pots (disease, fear, etc). There are 12 ans 24 man skirmishes too, these tend to be more kill fests than anything . the 24 man Barrow where you have to survive for an hour is epic!

If you don't complete a whole raid i one go or have bombed, just understand how raid locks worksince you "ïnherit" locks as well from RL's: http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Raids

It goes without saying you should have a full quota of fear, poison, wound and disease pots as well as +5 hope tokens. In some raids the tokens are mainly for keeping dread from eating up all your morale :( Haven't tried the Barrow yet, but have gone into mirkwood ones and did all the Helegrod now :) working up to get some epic gear :gyes:

Oh it also helps to have your in-game voip activated. Was much easier last night with the drake wing of Helegrod being able to chat to my raid leader.

Dunno. I'm keen to do daily school/Library runs - I need some superior third marks so I can get my Hele armour set. So Drusky ???? I hope you activated your card, must do it by Tuesday or else you lose all that cash (which you haven't paid me).

I attempted Sammuth Gul over the weekend with a group, but didn't get to the big boss. We got stuck at the lightning guy and then the okes gave up :grrr: But it's quite an intense fellowship (6-man) that requires a bit of geometry as you have to anticipate the guys lightning bursts which kill you one shot - but apparently he hits in geometric patterns. If I have to think too much in a raid I'm already halfway defeated, it takes all my concentration to not shoot off arrows on the wrong mobs

Sabre did some OD raids over the weekend which I'm really keen to hear about as they sound awesome! And the loot is really nice.

Yup, 6 man instances give debuffs up to lvl 65, 12 man and above raids give debuffs of 66 which the 65 potions can't remove .. fun times
