Seems Blizzard are screwing up diablo

Online only and you can buy in-game currency :(

Guess I'll have to wait for the *cough* fleamarket copy (as much as I hate doing that :( )

Blizzard said that incorporating real-world money to the game will add depth to the long term game, and will also help monetize the game.

I would have been able to deal with the fact that I need a permanent internet connection to play, but that is a deal breaker for me. Won't support them if this is the direction they are taking. Think they can remove Blizzard in their name now, pretty much nothing left of the company we all knew and loved. :(

From what I understand there will be 2 separate ingame auction houses, one where you can only use ingame gold that you pick up to buy, and the other will be using real money.
What their basically doing is legitimizing gold farming... and making sure they get a cut of the action, as they'll get a percentage of every item bought/sold using the real money auction house.

Goooooood joooooaaaaarb Acti-Blizzard! :|

The Auction House will allow Diablo III players to buy and sell loot for real cash instead of virtual gold, if they choose to do so...If a seller chooses cash instead of virtual gold, Blizzard will charge sellers a listing fee and a nominal fixed transaction fee if the item has a buyer. The cash proceeds are then either applied to an e-balance, allowing players to buy other Blizzard products, or a third-party payment provider (who is unannounced for now) that will let players cash out their money.

It's bad enough that we get so focused on in-game gold without this shite! To me, this is not gaming, I play games like this to distance myself from all the shite in the world. This game holds no attraction to me at all, when it should have. :(

This is sad news, but not really surprising after the Starcraft 2 fail, where they sold the first third of the game for the full price.

Rerig?! RERIG?! Ai nee Blizzard. The kicker is that silly fools will still flock to this, and it will still be awesome. But Ja, fleamarket version for me, I have 3rd party software to 'assist' me in any and all of my gold needs. Or statpoints for that matter :D

Starcraft 2 already required a constant Internet connection. It just wasn't as well-publicized as the complaints about Ubisofts DRM.

Me, I'm done giving Blizzard money. For good.

Its a pity that they are going the online only and subs based methods but its blizz so what can you expect?
The money based system will only be available for some countries, expect SA to be one that doesnt get it.

Yes, sadly I am also still interested, because I played so much Diablo 1 & 2, but will hold back on the pre-order this time. Going to have a wait and see attitude.
