i have a bit of a strange problem

i have been playing numerous game now on my machine at home and they have always run fine. That was until i installed hitman oh and my brother filled the machine with every kind of virus, spyware, trojan.

what happens is when playing games the rest of the game and all the characters run fine and in normal speed but my character is slow and retarded. Like in hit man it takes me about 3-5 seconds to turn around but i have already been shot a few times and the guy is right up on me. Or in GTA i cant cross a road with out being hit by a vehcile... never mind doing a mission...

so stoke was telling me that it could be driver files (without knowing the whole the story) so i tried it, deleted the old driver and reinstalled them wow the game was running fine again :woot: but them it slowly started to get slower and slower and slower i think it is now slower than it used to be...

"help me obi wan kenobi, you're my only hope"

I had a similar problem on Red Faction a few years ago, IIRC I re-installed directx and the problem went away. YMMV.

Thanks but i think i wil be just fine on my own doing the reload

note how i cleverly avoided even asking what you ment by that cause it just might give me stupid ideas that my little head will think are kewl and worth a try

dammm i guess not smart enough...

No doubt!

Just refering to a friend of ours who has reloaded his XP machine must be hundreds of times. Unnecessarily of course. So TG presented him with a "Spanner" award, for being such a big tool :D

Yeah, this friend of ours has reloading XP to a fine art. He's even created an XP disc that loads XP and for the most part, automatically sets it up the way he likes it with custom drivers etc etc.

If he doesn't reload his machine at least once every 2-3 weeks it's a frikkin' miracle.

It completely baffles me. I swear he must have OCD+EF.

The DOCTOR is in da house.... and NOW so solve Saint's problem.....

(Impressive drumroll)

Unplug the power cable from the back of your machine...
Throw it away.

This will solve all your problems with the game loading slowly.

The second part (throwing it away) is necessary cause I dont want you accidently injuring yourself with the cable on account of any advice given in this thread.

NEXT!!!

You DON'T want to connect Windows ME (or any Windows Pre-XP) directly to the Internet without some SERIOUS firewalling.

You will literally get nailed with worms / viruses etc as soon as you plug it in.

Actually, don't plug it in at all.

Don't even switch it on.

Burn it.

The rules of solving any technical problems on a Windoze mashine:

Restart the game (or other offending program)
Restart the mashine
Reinstall the game
Reinstall Windows

There! Problem solved!

This is really how to solve most windows related problems.

Here is the other way to solve most windows-related problems:

Uninstall it and install Mac/Linux...

Works muuuch better :p

Still, if you get 4 decent firewalls, and some spyware/adware/malware/virus detection stuff, you should be able to connect to the internet... so long as you don't browse the web ;)

Alluv ... I run like that, but on XP, not ME - thought I used to run it on ME way back so it is possible.
- download RASPPOE ...
- set the ADSL modem to run in bridged mode.
- plug the ADSL modem directly into the network card.
- instal rasppoe.
- create a dial-up connection using RASPPOE as the driver.
- enter ISP user name and password.
- connect.

If you have a network then you need 2 network cards, one for the Modem, one for the LAN.
If you have a USB ADSL modem - throw it away.

If you have an ADSL Router, then I dunno how to do that .. my ADSL modem is an actual ADSL modem [not a router] - the first one teklom brought out. ALCATEL POTS HOME.

Do you know how to configure your ADSL modem/router ?

ok fiorstly its gonna run off ANOTHER account, not with telkom, and its temporary.

FUCK ME

im gonna just go ahead and install XP over mE, cause i dont wanna reinstall ALLLL the progs ... then do it in XP .. much easier/safer

EDIT: but thanks for the advice stoke :P

SosmanSA
28th August 2006, 05:38 PM
No the balance comes from having two PC's on the Force and the other two having crossed over to the dark side

FeralBanana
