I just got this from BTGames in my email:

"Pre-order Battlefield 2142 and get a Battlefield 2142 branded 64meg USB flash drive (includes a gun unlock and a in-game rank-up) --PLUS-- If you are a Game b0nu$ subscriber you will receive a battlefield 2142 limited edition game pad personalised with your own Nick!!!"

This preorder costs R299 instead of the regular R269. If you already preordered the normal version, don't fret. Phone Jorina at 011 794-4450, give her your name and she'll change it for you.

Note: merged two threads - no need to have it in two places.

:frown: That gun unlock and rankup irritate me. What would you do with a 64mb flash drive anyway? You've probably got a portable storage device with far greater capacity already.... When's it coming?

EB games AND Gamestop AND BT games with the same, still "Exclusive", offer...

Well, EBGames and Gamestop are essentially the same company. And this kind of deal is something that EA has to do, kinda like a collector's edition, just not that fancy.

As far as the unlock goes, my guess is that you will just get to choose from the ones that are available, earlier than those who have to earn the points first. You won't get an unlock others can't get.

I am also kinda after the mousepad. Not that I need one, but having a pad with BF2142 design and my nickname on it somewhat floats my boat.

You do not have to be a member other than if you want the game pad with your nick on it.

You can buy the bog-standard version at R259 (say) or the 'collectors' edition for R299. Ultimately if you pay in advance the amount you would have paid for it after release you get the mem stick thing.

The R30 is a loyal customer programme and has nothing to do with BF2142 per se. It give you discounts on a whole range of stuffs. Figure it out for yourself if it is worth it - or would you pay R30 for a pad with your name on it? Seems reasonable based on the lack of prgress on the WarGeeks getting its own merchandise and some of the numbers that have been quoted in this regard. (?Yes - for T-shirts, I know, and Meg I know that you know that I know)

The special unlock that you'd get is no longer available - I think they are pushing that through the EA Downloader but the mem stick will be 128 MB instead of 64MB

New info from BT games:

BATTLEFIELD 2142 B0NU$ OFFER

Just to set the record straight!!! There has been some serious confusion from Electronic Arts South Africa as to what the Battlefield 2142 code on the USB Key would include. We were initially informed that it would include a in game rank-up and gun unlock. We were then informed by EA SA that this was not the case and the code we would be receiving only included a Rank-up. It has now come to light that it in fact includes all this.

The B0nu$ offer now includes:

A Battlefield 2142 branded 128meg USB flash drive (including an instant promotion the first time you log on to Battlefield 2142! You'll be able to choose from 9 unlocks including the Herzog AR Shotgun attachment, the RDX demopak, and the FRG-1 Grenade. While everyone else is working their way from Recruit to Private, you’ll be there immediately. Also, if you participate in the BF2 Veterans program, your promotions stack, so you’ll reach Private 1st Class the moment you log in and have even more unlocks to choose from. )

--PLUS-- If you are a Game b0nu$ subscriber you will receive a Battlefield 2142 limited edition game pad personalised with your own Nick/Alias!!!

We sincerely apologise for any misunderstanding but as you can imagine we have been just as confused. We are now exceptionally happy that this has been clarified.

Next thing is that we'll get the memory stick and the pad, but no game. Instead, we'll get "The Sims: Visit to the Proctologist".
