Lets all get the same instant messenger

I've found that quite often our communication is hampered by all the different messengers out there and the fact that everyone can't possibly try them all. I counted up the messengers that are available acordign to members page. Results:
XFire 37
Skype 23
MSN 27
ICQ 2
AIM 1
Yahoo 1

I'n not sure if this is correct. Will some one plz put up a amultiple coice poll so we can see what ones are used most. I hope that we can standardise on only one messenger so that everyone can talk to everyone. This move is in the interest of streangthening the fibre of the clan/guild. Of course then everyone just have to use it. LOL high hopes.

Also if there is a good reason why you prefer your messenger plz inform us in the text so we can all be motivated to all get the one you like.

I had a whole long schpiel typed out here and then my f@##$@# browser decided to page back for some reason so I lost the whole thing. You can thank remote desktop and a slow link for that. *sigh*.

Anyhoo - the gist of what I said was - you don't necessarily need to have different programs loaded for each network - there are multi-network messengers available, such as trillian, gaim, miranda, various jabber clients, etc.

I will make an announcement later as to what the official War Geeks messenger network is.

I've also used QQ and Wengo. Wengo doesn't work so well i guess. Also let's not forget TS and Ventrillo which are not instant messengers but have manny overlapping features.

Personally I think we should choose XFire cause of the integration with games, though i do understand that it's less efficient and feels less nice than MSN and such.

yeah you can use a multi IM prog, or we could all use MSN live and Yahoo, with skype


MSN live now lets yahoomessenger peeps talk, and skype, well EVERY BODY should have skype

I honestly don't really care - I use Trillian with 3 networks + XFire + Skype. Bring it on :D

I challenge RN..

I've got MSN, (which i use the most, thus my first choice), yahoo (with an ANCIENT email addy). Got me skype AND xfire all wired up (though don't use them that frequently nowadays). Got a Gmail account, and the install file for google messenger (not a good choice, and not many of us have gmail accounts, and got Jabber as part of my school's laptop program (NEVER use)

I vote:
1st: MSN: You can voice chat, type, send pics etc, offline msgs etc etc - VERY easy to pick up and very flexible
2nd: Xfire: Integrated into games, but somewhat simple...
3rd: Skype: well.. just.. I dunno, but I find MSN easier...

Yes, PM on this site and the shoutbox seems to fill the needs well in my opinion. Adding between 50 and 100 people to my messenger products seem a bit extreme.

Ive got MSN, X Fire and Skype.
I log into all 3 everyday and use all 3 everyday... I find X fire the nicest as it is ingame and it is very user friendly.... Skype mucks up my BF2 if it rings while Im playing, so I usually quite it before I go in to a game!!
And no Im not saying how popular I am :D
