Thanks to NerdBoy for this  :
When you run BF2142 for the first time it may complain about a missing D3dx9_29.dll.
You can download the missing DLL's here : http://www.toymaker.info/Games/html/d3dx_dlls.html
It's a sheet load better than tryng to find the latest DirectX build.

We recently got Company of Heroes at our school... Our group of about 6 or so, who generally game together, all got started - no problems. We tried giving it to some other people, and ALL of them had exactly the same problem: Missing File: D3dx9_(something).dll
I realised that because the 6 of us had all played FEAR together, and the same error happened to us then (with the exception of one of the computers), we had found the file on that one computer and passed it around like an STD (well, not quite - there was no fornication involved ;)).
The others had never played FEAR, and thus didn't get the DLL then.. So we had to give it to them.
The moral of the story is that if you read something of mine that's more than 10 words long, it's probably a rant or a ramble.
SUMMARY: We had this problem, but sorted it out by searching a comp that had it for the actual file, and copying it into the same directory on some other comps.
This seems much easier though - Thanks! :D

Thanks for the help in getting the install right guys!!
Have had a brief look at it and think I will probably buy it! I'm a bit of a SciFi fan so the more futuristic settings appeal to me! See you on the battlefield!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
