right i decided to write a bunch of stuff otu, just coz .. and it seems to have gotten big fast, now...

it is written in a , start reading anywhere kinda way

this can be wikid laster after the full version comes out, i will then in my uni end of year hols prob write a full guide with pictures and nice grammer and corrected spelling.

Firstly, guys, get to know your weapons.

you guys should know that f1 f2 f3 f4 f5 ...ect cycle thru vhecile posistions, so you dont need to get out of the thing and then back in. to change places

---------PODS-----------

right PODS first off, you must learn how to control them when they are airborne... they are very flexable and useful if you can steer them the right way

PODS can be found on the APC, in the Air troop transport

and most importanly the overlooked place... THERE ARE PODS ON YOUR TITAN (for intertitan boarding) .. these pods are located behind where the two 'helli' pads are in the titan, near the gunning consoles..

These pods on the titan can, (if the two titans are next to each other) save you alot alot of grief from being shot down while in a transport...

right now that you know where pods are... a few tips when using PODS

pods in transports

- dont just press e , make sure you think you have a place to land
- if you see a guy on the ground try aim for his head, this will kill him
- if you are flying a transport DO NOT POD out unless... you pod out at an angle as when the piolt bails the transport drops, and it will land on you if you pod out and dont steer hard left/right

also be aware PODS are AWESOME for getting out of burning ships, ect, when you are flying a transport, try do a last didth HARD TURN, or even better try gain altitude before you go down in flames, as this makes it safer for you and your crew when they pod out.

when you do a hard turn, try turn away from the flag/pod landing area.

pods in APCs

- these pods are used for boarding titans primarly
- remeber you can spawn on empty apcs, so if one is parked near a titan spawn on it and POD up.
- also if you are a crew member and your APC takes damage, and you can see one more hit will nail it, hang in there, because when some thing locks on a lock tone will sound, when that sounds POD out asap. podding out of an apc in a general fire fight is a nice way of getting away from the apc as it blows up.

- as with the transport, try to POD away from the wrechage, those explosions are nasty.

and again, aim for any near by enemies heads. or rofftops which are nice places to keep you out of the fire fight.

PODS on titans are easy, you can use them for 3 things

1) to pod accros to the enemy titan, instead of risking your life on a transport. (and its faster)

2) podding into the battle field in general

3) this one i like, you can pod from your titan, onto YOUR TITAN, so from the front you can pod and land on the back, this can surprise enemies whoe are not expecting people to come from behind, while they are busy watching the doors that are shieled.

-------------general things and stuff with other stuff---------------
Squads

when you inn a squad, if your squad leader gives an order to attck or deffend, if you follow his order you get points, for follwing orders.

ergo if you are squad leader ALWAYS always try and give orders to attack silos/deffend silos when your fighting, it will give every one and yourself many more points.

to give a deffend/attack order, use your map and right click on the silo and select attack/deffend... or in game , look at the silo number and press 't' then select issue order... it will automatically decided if it is attack or deffence.

the air attack unit

This unit, is powerfull only when there is a very good gunner piolt dialog,

unlike bf2 the chain gun on this thing is VERY powerfull. the TV unlike bf2 is RUBBISH, and very hard to use(i find) the unit is tricky to use, for example. you always need to be flying around, stay still too long and your dead in the water.

walkkers and antiair placements, can shoot EMP balls at this thing, which makes it drop like a rock, it is possable to recover intime tho.

the 'attack chopper' need to always fly around, except when luanching TV rockets, i found the only way to get people to get them to work, is that you revrese thrusters and the things hovers in the air, giving the gunner a nice stable platform.

one should note, when firing air to air, the rockets track air targets..

when flying the attack air unit, to do a dive and make a HARD TURN follow this preceedure:

the following is a nice way to get out of locks or get out of the line of fire

right your at a reasonably high altittude and you are targeted by say a walker near by.

angle that nose down, aim for the ground. (this gives the thign a bit more speed and helps accelerate it faster)
level out when you are a few meters above the ground

you now have the problem of hitting tress ect, to avoid pbjects and to make tight turns (or U turns) do this

you should be holding down the forward button when going straight for max speed, when you want to turn, take your fingure off that button and hit lightly tap reverse at as you hit the corner (all this while turning hard)

the result is a nice little manuveur which enables the unit to do very sharp turns and makes it hard to hit... plz warn your gunner, as alot of gunenrs ive flowen around have gotten very scared (mainly because i fly like 10 cm off the ground at times) but they tend to bail ect

These units are very versitile. i have tried to do a barrel roll and it seems you cant pull it off (due to the fact when you upside down the thrusters push you into the ground)

they can however do loop the loops if you got the balls for it.

a note on bailing from your bird.

there are 3 cases which would call for a bail.

1) you lost control of aircraft trying to do a barrel roll or it might just happen that way that your craft looses control, you have no option you need to bail at a good height to survive... remeber to puch space.

2) you are being shot and you know the next rocket/whatever will take you down, deploy counter measure shield if you still have it, nose up, pitch to one side and bail. this ensure the craft peels off in the other direction and you bail a safe distance as it blow/is hit by fire/makes pancakes with your gunner

3) youve been hit 14% health or so, and are on fire.... what i normall do is a variant on the sharp turn explained above.

in short ... DIVE hard, travel a bit along the ground to get a distance away, pull up hard , do a sharp turn while pulling and bail.

a low altiduded bail is best done like this as well, a sharp pull up, sharp turn left/right, then BAIL..

ALWAYS do the turn if you dont you have alot more chance of death.

walkers

these things KICKASS, firstly i feel i should let all wareeks know, you can crouch with the walker. which means ?? anyone ? class?.... it means you can Teabag people with the mech...

anyway, the walker alos needs a GOOD team manning it, you need the gunner on the top to nail airships ect, and also stray infantry.

the walker main guns are chain gun types, not good against armour, they do almost nothing... thyey are decent against infatry and buggies, (the trick with this is moving it around as the guns are spaced and set for a range of like 250meters i think.. so you have to spray a whole area if it is close by ie at your feet.

the 2ndry weap on the walker are rockets, you can fire all of them with out reloading, but they do overheat... these things can take out APCs TANKs and enemy WALKERS... ut you need to be fairly close range to use them, and they do not always hit.

WALKErs can sprint, so when moving across the map, hold that run button down and the walker will go a bit faster.

walkers have a soft spot at their rear on the joint of the torsoe and legs, also i think maybe at the knees... get a rocket in there andit does dmg

Buggies

these guys take three men, they also have a "nitro" button of sorts. holding down shift makes em sprint along pretty fast, slow down for corners tho..

i suggest that an engineer takes the back seat.. for two reasons
1) he can repair on the move
and 2) he can fire rockets out the back as the buggy zooms past tanks/apc/walkers..ect

APCs

position f1, the driver, of the apc, gets a machine gun turrent that is pretty strong, and a 2ndry weapon that is sort of like a granade luncher...

postion f2 gets an EMP luncher...

emps are great for tanks and walkers and infantry.... tanks and walkers cant move if they have been EMP'd, but the can still shoot, so its a nice defance thing to have... also when EMP is shot at troops their vision goes to hell... it looks look tho :p

but infantry can be very screwed over by emp.

the other peeps in the apc get lighter machine gun placments, and dont forget right clicking gets you a POD luanch.

hot tip

when the PAC enemy apc is enar by, you can tell which direction the gunners are looking, as in the gunner slit there is a little red light, which moves in accordance with which way he is pointing.

FLYING WITH/IN TRANSPORTS

ok first off, if you are the gunner then you should know, if you right click you can zoom in with the gun on the transport ship.

flying this beast of burden is a crucial skill, every one know.

firstly it uses thrusters angled down to hover and manuver.

these give it a constant amount of lift, other than basic flying around some advanced tips.

when lading at a silo you shoulod try and get the steepest angle of decent possable, the transport should not come in low and slow, it needs a fast drop out from a height, this decreases the amout of dangerous fire the transport takes.

when flying just remeber that the thrusters are downward pointing, so if you do a sharp turn they point out to the sides (IE YOU WILL LOOSE ALTIDUE if the turn is very sharp)... this is a great way of manuvering if used right, you can use it to turn in sharply on a landingzong and drop at the same time and when mastered becomes a tool for dodging those nasty gun ships.

"flags" - now claled Silos

these are numbered and easy to reffer too.
you need to be close to them to capture them, and you need to 'uplink' with it before you can start taking it over (this is automatic)

all flags have a anti tank gun, and an anti airgun..
these both work in the same way.

i will update this every so often with things i learn as i go...

rember that the pods can be used to board your own titan ... ie to egt to the back landing deck :p

i was thinking TG, whent he clan serv comes up, i think we should have a practise that envloves running around and learning things ..or teachingt things to peeps :p

When podding up from the APC to the Titan, it can be a problem when the APC is parked directly under the titan. Yesterday evening I tried to steer past the titan while podding up, but did not make it and bounded against the bottom edge. :D Sorry TG. :D Also, after I deployed the beacon (on the next attempt), I could not figure out which spawn point is the APC and which is the beacon on the Titan, so selected the wrong one once. :rolf:

Make sure you customize your soldier to have it equiped. Then press 8 or 9, but I think 8 to select it and then left click to deploy. I am also wondering how to pick it up again, so for the moment I save it for the enemy titan.

You just put it down again. Well ... that's what my team leader said he did last night when I asked him how you move it.

SaintMg

i get just putting it down again but what if you want to remove it so peeps can spawn on you cause once you drop it no one can spawn on you(SL)

If you're squad leader, and you've unlocked it and have it equipped SPECIFICALLY WITH THE KIT YOU'RE USING <<< IMPORTANT (ie, if you equip it with recon but not with Assault, you have to use recon to pick it up again..

Then you run up to it, look at it and press the 'G' key... *should* pick it up so that you can place it again.. was messing around with this with Chumba yesterday afternoon and then again in the evning with a couple of other peeps..... its fun to plummet from the sky into the middle of nowhere ;)

Oh, I *think* you can also do this with APMs!!! (claymore equivalent :))

SaintMg
24th October 2006, 02:55 PM
FB i understood that once you get a field upgrade you could equip it to any kit and all kits just need to customise each kit (speaking of customizing why do i have to do it every time i jin i should remeber what i use last time , not a biggy tho)

any way i will check it out later FB and let you know my finding :)

i hope i dont have to pick it up again to use it somewhere else...

TG
24th October 2006, 03:57 PM
Saint - what he's saying is that if you drop it as recon, then switch kits later on, you might not be able to pick it up again, you'll have to switch back to recon to pick it up.

A bit odd that.

to view dog tags, look on the leaderboard, or anyleaderboard, for SA in BFHQ .. and next to peeps name a tags icon apears to indicate you have knifed them b4..

also to redeploy spawn beacon pick it up usuing the key you set, defualt is 'G'

FeralBanana

@TG and Alluv: Thankies, that's what I meant :D

And you can also sort your leaderboard by people you've knifed :D :p
