Too late... I already own a couple of those. And to be honest, I would have bought these games regardless. If all else fails, there's always cracks that remove the Starforce protection.

Yep.
The problem is that it installs possibly destructive drivers. :p

People have - tho it seems the CEO is one of those wankers that like to threaten to sue people at the drop of a hat.
He has threatened anybody that has posted anything negative about starforce.

I haven't had problems with Starforce in the past.
The thing is, what are you going to do? The industry is not going to listen to their paying customers. They are too busy satisfying their valued shareholders (my guess is that 90% of those are probably completely PC illiterate, nevermind evr having played a game). And if the shareholders think their profits are being infringed by software pirates, then the company will do something about it. Even if it is completely useless crap like Starforce.

from TG's link :
"Dear Sir, calling StarForce "Anti-copying malware" is a good enough cause to press charges and that is what our corporate lawyer is busy doing right now. I urge you to remove your post from http://www.boingboing.net/2006/01/30/anticopying_malware_.html because it is full of insults, lies, false accusations and rumors. Your article violates approximately 11 international laws. Our USlawyer will contact you shortly. I have also contacted the FBI , because what you are doing is harassment."
I also own a few of their "protected" games, although i dont use any other alchol or virtual drive related software i've never had issues with Starforce...

Well, there's definitely some pearls among those games. Let me just mention "Runaway", "The Black Mirror" and "The Moment of Silence"... Adventure par excellence :D

Thanks for the Alert. Found and removed the offending drivers from my system. Got them from a demo of Virtual Skipper 3
