Well, I am finally at home... Installed BF2142. Set up my account...

I try setting up Chumba's account, and what does it tell me? CD Key already registered to another account! One might think that one can add an additional soldier to one's account? Sorry bud, but if the name already exists, then you cannot import it!!

What the FRACK? This means that although my son and I NEVER play at the same time, I need to buy 2 copies of the game!!!

Or how about THIS?

I buy 2 copies of the game. I have only got ONE PC. Do I need to RE-INSTALL THE WHOLE FRACKING GAME EVERY TIME I SWITCH PLAYERS SO THE CD-KEY CHANGES?!

Any comments?

You can have multiple soldiers associated with the same EA account.

yeah 4 soldiers with one account ...

so make an acount and make chumba a soldier of that account . and you the other soldier

I tried that and it only works if the account doesn't already exist.

I can create a NEW account, yes, but he'll lose out on using cHuMbA3wUmBa and getting a BF2 Veteran rank-up

THings went smoothly for me luckily...only two rather interesting things happened...first time I fired up the game it moaned that I didn't have a valid cd in....of course not! Its a DVD for pete's sake! Anyway, a reboot sorted that out.
As soon as I logged in my name was waiting for me with 40 nice points already loaded and an unlock...thanks vetran program...and then I created a 'new solgier' for my son and it gave him an unlock and rank up too.

The only time I would expect any problems would be if I try to install this on another machine.

So, maybe this is not such a bad thing...

From what Sminty is saying, all the soldiers under my login will have the same amount of ranks and unlocks? Or is this wishful thinking?

Seems odd Sminty but what do I know. I still think a digital watch is a pretty nice idea...

If what Sminty says is true then there is the awesome possibility to have different development trees for your soldiers. I could have Albereth the Scout, Albereth the Support etc and use the unlocks to suit the class times 4.

A good thing.

But I understand your (Spacedd) problem and that sucks. In BF2 the logon was at the soldier level so I'd be me even if I was on your machine. Now your machine won't let me be me. I am lucky (or stoopid) because Cullen Doom has his own machine and copy of BF2142.

Well, what do you know...

I actually dialled the EA South Africa support phone number and someone actually answered. Despite the fact that EA SA only has ONE (if I believe what he told me) support guy manning the phones, this guy (Shane, I believe his name was) gave me his undivided attention for almost 20 minutes while I whined at him about the new login method that they have come up with.

He told me that he is gonna try and get cHuMbA's veteran BF2 account linked to my EA login so that he can play with his own character while logged in to the EA Master Server as myself.

We shall keep you posted with any new developments.

So I can honestly say that I am quite impressed with the support I have received so far from EA SA. Now let's see if they fizzle out like every Microsoft problem I have ever logged...

Just watch that follow through. They do talk a good talk at EA SA.
