:rofl:
PROOF that it's a reskinned BF2:
(on the fix list)
2142 will no longer show up as Battlefield 2 in the Windows Firewall Exception List
Apart from that it seems pretty cool :)

Probably just me but..
I took the patch off SGS - it is a rar. When I applied it it complained about my 2142.exe. I ignored and it did stuff - then I couldn't start game - dumped to desktop.
I've reinstalled and went straight to 1.05. (assume it works) there was no complaint this time. I wonder if the SGS haven't got the patch that fixes the EA Downloader version - if there are multiple patches. Perhaps EA stuffed up again.
Comments?

Methinks your .exe was locked. Mine does that every now and then after a crash to desktop, and have to restart to get the game to run again.
Recommending everybody restart pc before installing patch.

Just in case somebody has issues when the patch doesnt find your copy of BF2142 :
Update: I was unable to install the patch so contacted EA's ever-helpful PR for the title, and between us we've resolved an issue that could spit up an error stating that the install path for Battlefield 2142 could not be found. If you experience this (presently appears limited to EA Downloader/Link users) browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2142 in your registry and add the following 'Strings':
"InstallDir"="C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142"
"Version"="1.01"
"BuildNr"="1.0.9.1"
Once this is done you should instantly be able to install the new patch.

LoL!
Um, the Titans are still laggy and I still get disconnects...1.06 only fixes the CTD issue. Surprised it didnt make any new problems...

Yeah - I found the titans to have more lag than before. :(
Also - another annoying bug - I got something like 5 combat efficiency pins and a couple of titan defender pins - my line then dropped. When I reconnected, I resumed my score, and I immediately received another titan defender pin as I spawned (dunno why) - but I lost all the other awards. :grr:

Have also found the lag to be as bad as before !
Every now and then when I join it feels like I'm only playing at about 10 fps - comes and goes , even though the actual framerate is higher - tend to think it's just the servers that can't handle though, or it might be a memory leak - often happens a short while before the server crashes ... :(

This game is really starting to annoy me...
Recently when I "try" knife someone it just makes that cutting noise and doesnt kill the guy.
Today i creapt up on a prone dude and knifed 3 times. It made the sound twice and then only killed him.
Also, is there a hack to transport directly to an enemies flag to cap it? On 2 occasions I've seen a guy just materialise out of thin air & prone directly on our flag pole. (a back flag too)No1 else around...?:confused:
All I can say is look out for Armed Assault coming to SA hopefully next month. That is the gonna be the dogz bollox!!

Hmm, there isn't much info about armed assault on their website. Tsk. Well since it's not related to EA it should be pretty cool. ;) Screenies are purty.

I also play Americas Army but the stages are too small and repetitive, at least in BF its different everytime you play.
SGS is gonna have a server for this game and I hope some geekies will jam this game too! Checkout the fact sheet. You can blow up buildings and stuff.

Isn't that the sequel of Operation Flashpoint? I just read that Armed Assault is a major hardware hog, and that at least one of the international versions (the original is czech) uses a different copy protection which decreases the performance because of constant disk checks.

Its not a sequel to OFP but its made by the same peeps and I think its the same engine, just improved.
I was speakin to a dude who downloaded it on bittorrent (4gb) who is playing it now & says its absolutely amazing. Which I can believe from the gameplay vids I have seen.
They are waiting on distributors for the EU which is the version we will get and the min specs arent so bad. I guess maybe the ArmA forums will have more info on resource issues.
OFP2 is ready for release at the moment but they are having publishing issues, but it will be out here early next year *holds thumbs*
It'l be good to get into this game early when everyone else is just as bad a n00b as you. The map is over 400km big too by the way!
