I know that some of you guys like knife fights, and some are even good at it - but I sometimes wish EA would lose the damn knife, or at least get rid of the knife badge. Because im my opinion the whole knifing thing is getting ridiculous.

If you manage to sneak up on an unsuspecting guy and knife him from behind - kudos, that's skill. I managed to do that once, and I felt a strange satisfaction afterwards :D . But all these idiots running around wiggling their knives - I'd love to shoot them over and over and over and over... you get the idea. It's not only the lamest thing one can do - run towards me in the open, wiggle his knife and slash slash slash slash - it's also quite humiliating for me if he actually manages to kill me. :mad: If I see one like this, the gun is out immediately, and I do everything to shoot him.

But there are stranger things happening. When we were playing on Sharqui the other night, I was in the TV station, and a guy runs past me up the stairs - next moment I am dead: knifed. How the fuck?? A few seconds later one of you guys said that someone virtually knifed you from the other floor...

End of story: I hate knives, and I will keep doing everything to spoil a knifers day (well, there are enough people out there who go out of their way to spoil a sniper's day, and last night I had them all against me :( ).

what i dislike about this knife thingie is the whole dolphin dive they do to get to your feet and knife you then and there... but like you say, i would agree to have knifes removed and replaced by a rifle butt option like in CoD2. ;)

Yeah, rifle butt sounds good. Plus that allows everyone to use it properly. The fucking sniper pistol is so sucky, you need like two clips to put someone down...

I have made a note in my little black book that Rainy really likes to be stabbed ... expecially while he's standing on the floor below me ... shooting at people that are miles away from him.

Stoke, you are getting me wrong. I am not moaning about people who can only kill me in close combat (which is a joke by itself anyway - most maps you are lucky if the visibility is above 200m, and some people seem to be able to nail you with any rifle on that distance). I am just pissed off about people who go out of their way to knife everything and everyone in their path. And my moaning is also about DICE/EA because with the existence of the knife badge and its requirement for a higher rank, they encourage this kind of gameplay, because everyone wants to be so fucking leet.

As a sniper, you are inherently disadvantaged in close combat (the pistol is a fucking joke) - which is why I tend to stay out of it. You will have a hard time finding me on the floor just below you sniping at people across the map - I usually make sure there is only one way to my vantage point, and that one gets blocked by a claymore, so I have a warning, if nothing else. If you actually manage to sneak up on me in a high position, get past my claymore, get close to me and knife me - kudos to you, that's skill, no hard feelings and no moaning. But people who are running around wiggling their knives 90% of the time, just out to spoil other people's days - screw them, I am gonna spoil their day as good as I can.

LOL, man knifers ruiened my days aswell at one time, try and get that badge, changes the whole picture, to be able to sneak up a guy or 5 , without being seen, remember they see you you are cannon fodde, very very quicly.

There are bloaks whom lacks a bit of tact and caracter, all they aim for is their own personal stats, never the team, especially the youngsters. I just love giving them some of my lead, and man nothing like c4'ing a knifer. Absolute humiliation to the knifer. Ive done quite a few of those.

It takes skill to be a good knifer and it even takes more skill to use it when nesassary. Two nights ago i knifed two snipers on the dcrane on sharqi, i had to , if i used the gun the other sniper wouldhave been alerted, since i still had to find him and possibly another. End of day, knifed two snipers, not even mentioning jumping their claymores, mission sucessful.

Okay, I find the knife fights quite funny, if rather annoying (I do collect badges, so if you ever wonder why I join in knife fights, you now know why.. I'm trying to to get my veteran knife :P)

Anyway, certain knifings do require skills.. For example, Last night I was playing Kubra Dam and, at the very top spawn point (the one originally controlled by ther MEC at the top :P). Anyway, there was some really good random dude in the little hut thing that doesn't have a ground floor, and requires a ladder of doom to get to the top. Anyway, he was guarding the 'only' entrance and killing all who spawned there.

Anyway, I managed to sneak in behind him and knife him. Now that may not be skill, and I would not say it is (as that would be boasting and god forbid... you get the idea :), but that is where I feel that it is accepted to use knives.

Apart from that, remember what your mother told you: Don't play with knives, especially if you look like a retard on tik. Without a ferret or a lobotomized chicken. Shame on you...

I never really played with knives. Why bring a knife to a gun fight? Then I had to get the pesky badge. I discovered that I had at somepoint knifed about 40 peeps. I just hadn't gone out and done 5 in a row. SO with a little effort I managed to get two badges at the same time - basic and vet.

Now I've a fond spot for my knife, getting the badge taught my to whip the knife out instead of having that 'who can reaload the fastest' race. Other poor bastard is left wondering why he didn't think of that while you walk away to reload.
Taking out more than 1 sniper on a roof. :D :D If you shoot the first one the others hear. If you knife the the first one you get to knife the second ... and the third. Even if they are in the same squad you can get away with it. (Twas a sweet moment) the third guy was spinning like a top trying to locate me. Obviously his sniper teamie mates must have been shouting "Behind you, to your left. right. aarrgghh" Death cam can be such a frustrating thing. :D.
So Rainy I got respect for a guy who knifes me. It takes skill to get close to a good player and sort him with a knife. Hate being sniped but in the same way got respect for a good sniper. If you can take a bunny hopping. doplhin diving . dodging sneaky bastid like me out with a sniper rifle then good on you... :)

Darnit, I completely agree with you. Knifing the way you describe it requires skill, and it earns my respect. A one-shot kill with a sniper rifle requires skill as well, and believe me - it's difficult if the target is more than 50m away.

I actually had that happen to me once, was in a squad with another sniper, on one of the cranes at Kubra Dam. Another guy snuck up behind me and knifed me, I still managed to alert my squaddie and he took the knifing bastard out :D

It seems to be the snipers who have the biggest problem with knives ;) I dont have a problem with them at all. Prehaps try moving a little more to avoid a knifing. I DIG KNIVES!!!

The support guns are fine against Vodniks and Hummers, I nailed a couple of drivers with the PKM. I also took out a chopper with the MG36. Only when you see tanks and APCs, you better run :D

Rainy, the silenced pistol is not so bad. Three rapid shots to the head does the job. Here's how:
Lick your index finger and thumb and smooth down those eyebrows. Remain calm or those brows'll look funny when you're done.
Aim for the head, fire.

I luuuurv my knife...I am always up for a knife fight as well.But I never just take out my knife if the enemy has a gun,unless I'm 90% certain that I will stab him in the back.But if an enemy attempts to stab me,I pull out my knife and fight him mano o' mano.But if the fight is taking extra long,I ruk out my pistol and shoot him in the face(unless I'm engie,then it's my shotgun to his mouth,which comes close to the satisfaction of a knife kill!).
After this new patch though,it seems as if you need 2-3 perfect stabs to kill the enemy now,so it's made it a bit harder...therefore more satisfying.
