New Themes

Right, I've installed a whole bunch of themes for you guys to vote on.

The theme with the most votes will become the site default theme. The most popular after that may possibly be left for user selection, with the least popular being removed entirely.

You can switch between themes using the theme chooser dropdown which is (usually) located at the bottom left of the site. Different themes may change the location.

Please select your favourites (multiple choices allowed).

I might add that the most popular theme will be used as a BASE. I'll move some of my niftier mods to the new theme, as well as having a (hopefully) decent logo etc. Any graphic designers, please feel free to step up and volunteer. ;)

Ooooh, so many of them are nice. But I think Black Yellow makes Brawler's Avatar stand out the best.

When there is no Brawler posts, Hot Coffee also looks good.

hot coffee
Silver white
the most

silver white is probably the best alternative to the default for me
and then hot coffee then default, then the rest i voted for :)

Gag, I can't believe that the majority of you are voting for the crappy default blue! Figures. Most of those seem to be MyADSL users! Busted!

Hmmm... well nuts to you lot. Default blue will NOT remain default, so there!
I'll leave it in the selection list, so those of you that want it can keep it, but I really really badly want to change the default theme to something different.

Oh - and by default, I mean the theme that loads when you're not logged in, ie, the theme that new users will see the first time they view the site.

Also - just bear in mind that some of the test skins don't offer quite the same functionality that the original 3 themes (Default, puke & coffee) offer.

Once a short list of styles have been selected, I will begin adding that functionality. So judge the style on looks only, not on functionality.

Hmmm .. after trying out quite a few, I'm afraid to say that I definitely like the default blue more than any of the others TG !

With some of the darker ones the smilie animations look horrible too, so might take extra work to get sorted out ... have a look at the roffel smilie for eg ..

i agree.....

the smilies (and shouts) look better on the lighter backgrounds. (i really don't want to start squinting at my age already trying to read all the important info in these threads ;))

the blues are also easy on the eyes, while the orange livens it up a bit too :)

I don't really like any of them = /... I sorta like the last few (The blue/white/gray mixtures) but not particularly.

The other ones (darker backgrounds) look good but as it's been said I don't think the smileys etc work well with them :(

Oh, and also I DON'T think we should have the default skin being dark and 'moody' if you know what I mean.. It's not something that I can really explain, but I feel that it makes the clan less of what it should appear to be.

IE, ive checked other clan's forums and a lot of them (BOC, FIB etc I think) are sort of 'cool' as in military camo or dark/black/red/serious colours. I don't think we should have a skin similar to that and I'd prefer that we kept our light and 'accessible'.


Oh, and one of the earlier blue-white-gray skins looks too much like the SGS forums for my liking :thhbbbt:

I really like Blak-Ice, but if I had a weapon of sorts to my head...........I would have to go with Smart Blue, just looks so professional, clean and spiffy :D

Contrary to my vote, I have now been using Smart Blue for a while and I think it is the best alternative to Default Blue.

I like the Ozone one very subtle and neat. Nothing that's harsh on the eyes.
So far also pretty simple to navigate.

Oh - and don't worry about the smilies on the dark backgrounds... the white borders can be fixed.
A lot of the time you can find the 'New Posts' link if you click 'Search'. It pops up a menu where you can click it.

I prefer the kind that actually works on my phone, What else can i do while sitting on the buss, but stirr, so as long as it works on my phone i care little of the look and feel.

Sorry to do this to you guys, but I've reset the poll. I've removed some of the unpopular themes, and I've added three more. Maybe the women can stop wingeing now. :p

You may have noticed that I've removed Blak-Ice and Ozone - this was not due to them being unpopular, but rather with them being a pain in the rear end to modify, plus there were some issues with them on the back-end side.

I am strongly leaning towards using Fancy Gray as a base for the new default theme - this does not mean that you won't necessarily have your favourite theme available for use.

The only way to get to it is to choose "Default Style", which will then point to something else ... I'm assuming you're going to add an option to the selection list for Default Blue then ? :D

That's what it is called.

I'll prolly rename it from Default Style when I get around to setting the other one as default.. Note that the name doesn't have to be 'default' for it to be default :p

Black Smart has won the votes, HOWEVER, for me, there is a big issue in that the cursor tends to disappear against the light gray of the input boxes. It's really irritating for me, so that has made me veto it for the site default.

I have been using Fancy Gray for a couple of days now, and it has grown on me, so I have decided that it will become the site default when I've finished modifying it.

The remaining themes (including the current default style) will remain selectable for your own preferences - I might rename them however.
