I setup a dedicated LAN SF server sometime last week, and I convinced XEye and FiveL to connect. Seems my 384 (512) handled the connections quite admirably, with VOIP to boot. Neither of them complained of any lag. Bandwidth usage wasn't too bad either.
We had a great time TKing the crap out of each other, all the while convincing FiveL that he could fly the SF attack choppers. :D
It ended up being a 1am stint for the three of us. By the time we realised that we should finish up, my mouse hand was cramping rather badly.
Anyway, since it worked out so well, I'm going to do it again, this time using vanilla BF2 - since the choppers are easier to fly. However this time I want to try having 3 players coming across my link. I'll even enable BattleRecorder to see exactly what it does, and how badly it bogs down the server.
With 4 players in total, we can try 2vs2. It should make life interesting at any rate.
Depending on how things go, I'll try setup the server for tonight. If you want to be "in", contact me using any means you like.
First come, first served.
