View Full Version : Party/Swap Games/Braai

Hey Guys
We talked about this briefly in another thread but I figured I would make a more 'on topic' thread here.
The basic idea is we have come up with an excuse to get together again.
I'm gonna leave the date blank for now and put in a very provisional Saturday the 21st of April....That's 2 and a half weeks from now.
Obviously its gonna be a bring an braai thing so tell me what you want to bring in the name of salads etc that you want to share.
The braai will be at my house. The address is 5 Smith Avenue, Edenglen. I will post directions later depending on if there is any interest.
Along with everything else bring your old games and hardware you want to unload or swap for other things and we can have a good old swap meet. Don't be shy about what you bring, this is the whole [-]excuse[/-] reason why we are getting together.
So if you are in the Jo'burg area in the next 2 and a bit weeks please put your name down on this thread so we can organise things better.

I agree...I don't taste good at all.
ok...so far there are <counts on fingers> um, 4 peeps? did I count right....seems 21st is a winner with most so far also.
Haha, still haven't even told the wife...wanted to do that after we settled on a date so I guess I will tell her tonight.
One more thing. Spouses, rug rats and significant others are welcome and Blinky if you want to invite any of your fellow clan mates please do, would be nice to have more guys from other clans also. I got a big yard I am sure we will manage (um bring chairs, I got a severely limited supply).
I have a large (half barrel) braai and then a smaller one. This should be enough but just in case if anyone feels like packing an extra braai in they can, but we can organise something like that closer to the time.

I always laugh at the way men have to check with their partner before they do anything. Whether it's to ask permission, or check availability, it's been ages since i've seen a man in a relationship make a unilateral decision.
Then again, i'm on my way there - i think that scares me the most.
Ga5can
5th April 2007, 09:18 AM
I do believe the married people can affirm this ... but it goes ... Married men are the most peaceful creatures on this planet! They go and aks to keep the peace :D
Sminty
5th April 2007, 10:57 AM
lol...the whole point of being married is that you love that person and hence you care about how they feel and what makes them happy...its not being a wuss its being in love, the whole reason you got married...remember?
Oh and my wife has written the 21st down...so now its cast in stone guys....21st it is....more details to follow.

HAHAHAHA! Relax man, I was just taking the piss.
Best comedian on relationships has to be Jeff Foxworthy. In South Africa it has to be Tim Plewman (forgive me for the spelling of his surname) and his irrepressible portrayal of a father, husband and MAN in defending the caveman.
I urge any and all of you to see it, it is magnificent.
I completely understand what it is to be a considerate human being, it's not being whipped, it's being decent. Looking forward to meeting the missus!

So far we have the following [-]freaks[/-] people saying they will be there or confirm later:
- Wingnut
- Noodle
- Stoke
- Ga5can
- SenorBlinky
- Troepster (?) - having been volunteered by the blinkster
- Vortex (et al).
- FireFox (will confirm closer to the time)
- Wizard
- ArchAngeljfk
- Pvt Mustard
Did I miss anyone?
Could you guys please tell me what you gonna bring extra, like tater salad, green salad, chips, whatever....don't have to bring much, just enough so we can pretend we aren't just eating meat.
I'll be PM'ing my address with a map to everyone who has/will confirm later.
@Blinky dude...I'm not exactly doing anything special, no need to actually bring anything for me or the wife but since you are so insistent my wife has her eye on this 4 carat diamond ring ;) (and that's carat and not carrot smartass, don't think I didn't see that one coming)
Vortex

@Vorty...thanks for reminding me...they still need to confirm but so far it seems like Archi and Mustard will be there...I've added them to the list now.
The et al part is totally up to you...my pets are used to kids and so is my family...the question is, do you want to bring the kids along? Like I said, totally up to you.
Of course the same is true for everyone, lots of us have kids and would be nice to have kids around that the other kids can play with.

@Noodle. I have two braais, one big un (half barrel thingy) and another smaller one...looking at how many people are coming (please tell who is coming with you also) I would say that should be enough. So don't worry about buns, bread, condiments or charcoal etc...I'll take care of that. But if you can bring some snacks or a lekker pudding that is made from a recipe passed down from your great great great gandmother that would be cool.
@Vrotten...well my 2 kids and my wife will be there...My kids are 11 (and a half) and 10 and my wife is, um, younger than me.

What's this now? I offer to bring gifts and what do i get? sarcasm and insults?
Maybe I'll just send your wife and your mother sympathy cards...
But seriously, we'll be abusing your home, so I insist - please don't offer anymore gift ideas, you've had your chance, punk, now you'll have to settle with what i think is nice... You've made your bed! And like my ouma once said, don't kak on your own voorstoep, cause i might just bring those kids of yours itching powder, stink bombs and sugar filled sugar cubes with sugar coating - I KNOW they'll just LOVE that...

I never had cool duvet covers or moerse action hero orientated toys when i was coming up. We did have a mud pool in the back yard (all natural, very strange indeed) and my sister and i would destroy our church clothes to play in that thing.
Actually, now that i think back, we didn't have any toys at all... Good thing i'm a boy, or i would have had nothing to play with.

My most humble apologies to Noodle, your sniper shot is now also on the collage. I don't think I was too clear in my description of the collage, the head shots are of the Geeks who were there, I am doing another one with members of the other clans who were also there. :) This is the updated link for the collage including Noodle: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=185905&cat=1053

Can't WAIT for the next one!
But please, will the next photographer just TRY to make me prettier than i really am? Maybe we should have a braai in the dark and use a camera without a flash.
