i was thinking ...ok before i think heres my current settup
p4 ht 3.0GHZ
1 gig ram
80bg hdd
9600 XT 256mb (fan on it faults sometimes and makes a awful racquet)AGP thats teh main points
i was thinking of upgradng or buying a whole new rig
if i was to upgrade it i thinki would just replace the graphics card to a 6600GT agp and kapish...well it would work well but if i wanted to upgrade it more then ill have to scrap the whole thing and start new to get it any better coz tehn it would pretty much be as upgraded as possible as my proccestor is a low socket and basicly un upgradable and i cant put a agp card into a PCIe slot and thats my prob
so when i want ot get into the new genration of stuff i would be forked as its the end of the line
so what i was thinking is that maybe i could keep my ram, hdd, dvd writer and stuff so if i get a new comp then it would cost me less. not much but im not rich....oooh i wish i was rich....
/me wishes for the day when he can buy computers as if tehy where nothing...
bambi wakes up.... dammit that wasnt real....
ya so what do you guys suggest. my budget isnt high so dont suggest a l33t system like TG's coz for me thats not gonna happen for me and if you guys can please give reletive costs for the stuff u suggest ok

Hold off - save like heck till like August - and then go PCIE.
Anything AGP that you buy now is just going to be a waste of money.

If you want a bit of a boost, try sell the 9600xt and get a 6600GT they pretty cheap at teh mo.
By october we'll have the 7600, so holding off can also work.

Bambi, if I decipher your problem description correctly, I have had the same problem in the past with a Geforce Ti4200. all that helps is replacing the fan. I mailed the manufacturer at that time, and to my surprise they sent me a new fan incl. heatsink free of charge.

ya u see i have a differnt problem .... slightly... u see i got my Graphics card when i sent my computer in with a waranty for over heating problems and then i have no idea what the manufacturer is and i have no proof of getting it and my warranty has expired so i cant take it back to them...

Hmmm I'm thinking that you should acquire your Pc parts elsewhere from now on. :)

ROFFEL at Darnit.
REALLY BAD ADVICE : My PIII's fan was making a noise so I got like really cross and pulled the damn thing right off, stamped on it a few times and then took the whole machine off to my nearest computer store and said - fix it ! They replaced the fan for like 70 bucks.

u can get 3rd party heatsinks and fans... maybe worth a look if u want to wait till year end... personbally i want to wait till the PPUs (physics processing unit) + next gen graphics cards + longhorn come out... then rape my bank account and get a nice PC.

Alternatively you can just put a drop of sewing oil on the fan axle (will probably have to remove the fan from the card to do this). I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago on the wife's PC - screen card fan started making a huge noise - took it off, added oil and walla .. !

Just be sure it's good oil - sewing oil is an excellent example.
I used cooking oil once - worked for 2 hours and then it REALLLLLY made a noise, so I tried margarine ...
