some more news (http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_022106) from EA on this :
"Good day soldiers, We want to let you know that we have been making great progress on patch 1.21 and are happy to share with you some of the issues that are being addressed. The patch will be tested in a limited beta starting the end of this week. We're working around the clock to minimize your wait on the release of 1.21 but at the same time want to make sure that the patch is thoroughly tested before it goes out officially.
Below is a list of the current confirmed fixes:
* Crash bug when using Hummer with TOW in the Special Forces expansion pack has been fixed
* Screen capture is now working
* Performance issues with certain ATI cards has been addressed
* Server browser can now filter by map name
* Claymores - the number that can be dropped at any one time has been reduced to 2

I reckon they should bring back friendly fire on mines and claymores, and replace the skull and crossbones with specific message, like a big flashing arrow saying "THIS ONES A CLAYMORE, DUMBA$$$" and "THIS ONE IS AN ANTI VEHICLE MI . . . , oh to hell with it you noobs are probably just attracted to the flashing lights anyway"

From what I understand SGS put friendly fire on mines back on to prevent "over claymorizationification"

I'll race you too it! ;)
I must saying I'm having a lot of fun with the AT kit again, I think the p90 balances the range / accuracy fairly.

Agree - It is really good to be able to defend yourself against troops 10m away from you.

It is rather annoying how they change the advert screen when you report for duty - so you think there is something new and wander off to their website only to find a link back to the original message regarding 1.21.
Damn - that cost me a couple of minutes of game time.

Don't you know that's EA's modis operandi? Get you to fork out for hte game then do everything to distract you from playing . . .

Naah, they just make the game so shocking and bug-ridden that you actually WANT to look at those screens rather than playing...
'strue.
A friend of a friend told me. :p
