View Full Version : Valve Targets October for Episode 2, TF2 & Portal Release

Valve's legion of fans can start drawing whacking great circles around October, according to marketing director Doug Lombardi.

Lombardi said as much to Eurogamer during a recent visit to the studio to make cooing noises about its Q4 line-up, although he admitted that it wasn't a dead cert. When is it ever?

Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2 will be released as a bundle on Steam, Valve's PC-based content delivery network, while Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will be able to pick the games up in two packages - one in which the three stand together and another that also includes Half-Life 2 and Episode One.

All three games were clearly in an advanced state this week, with the developer claiming that the main areas that remain are things like polish and additional graphical tweaks

You can see what we thought of Portal in our first impressions, with the others coming soon. I can only type so fast. Impatient bastards. In the meantime, you could always read about another Valve project, Left 4 Dead, which charmed the hell out of us (and into us) during our stay.

I'm looking forward to this.
I'll definitely get it on PC, may even get it on XBox too.

I will go for the X360 version simply coz of Steam & online ease of gameplay. Hope a demo is out soon.

Steam doesn't bug me. I already have a couple of Steam based games. Never had issues.

Having changed HDDs a couple of times and lost my game files I find it excruciating to have to download all the stuff again. I did have a back up somewhere.... :p

I agree with TG
Guys, theres really nothing wrong with steam, ive only ever had 1 or 2 (one being a patch they released that caused problems but was corrected the very same day) problems with it in the entire duration of using it. that doesnt even come CLOSE to comparing with the problems ive had with every single EA game. Steam releases regular updates with NEW content not only bug fixes that were there from the start like EA. steam is our saving grace compared to EA...

Well, other than Steam i prefer the X360 version anyhow. Achievements, online community, 32" LCD, 5.1 Digital Audio, etc.

Talking about Steam, anybody have the binary files for HL2, CSS & DoD:Source? I plan to re-activate those games i bought eons ago but wont do so until I get the binary files.

Cool. Closest I can meet you on a weekday is either East Rand mall or Eastgate. But you said you work by Bryanston?

I work in Sandton, but I knock off at around 2pm - so I'm usually back east by around 2.30 - 2.40, depending on traffic.
I'm just down the road from the ERM.

Maybe on your way back we could meet by Eastgate or the ERM?

Some time next week though i think. Its too close now for a meetup.
