The older I get the slower the ol' reflexes become - shaving is only accomplished if I have a trauma team on stand-by - and so these new-fangled jet sims get further out of reach. Last time we played a flight sim at a LAN party - CFS3, I think - we spent hours flying into hills, accompanied by screams and yells of frustration as erryoplaynes whizzed past at Clark Kent speeds.
So... I'm looking for a good WWI sim, preferrably sumpin' like Red Baron II, which will allow us fogies to take our time, sip a cognac and eat a canape between bursts.
Any suggestions? I'll pay for an original or a copy if you have a good 'un.

LOL you're gonna like my latest RC Biplane, will post pics in Hobbies forum where you can't go :P
I want in on some online WWI action. I'm with you on the simplicity. I remember Darnit's Apache Longbow heli sim. It was like being back in physics lectures, way too much info for a game.

So what you're trying to say is that you've got the whole elitist-RC-Hobby-Members-only thing going on eh? Well! Don't just sit there being smug Drusky, old bean! Start searching for a flight sim already! I thought the Eastern Cape mafia had connections....?

Well WWI I don't know about but I have a WWII sim....specifically Miscrosoft Combat Flight Simulator 3...but as for a review...I played it once and found it waaay too hard (mainly cause I jumped straight in without reading the manual, they actually expect me to learn stuff before I fly).
So naturally I haven't had the energy to try again...in the mean time it sits on the shelf and taunts me it does.

Neddy - you may be able to find copies of Wings of War in some of the bigger shops. It is a WWI game but it is also a little too much like an arcade game at times - mind you, rockets on a biplane are fun!!!

Thanks Alby, I actually bought that game a while back and found it to be VERY arcade-like. I miss the days of that old 12-floppy/ 4 stiff classic "Red Baron". Got my hands on a *cough cough* "flea market" copy of Red Baron II a while ago but it was corrupted or some such. My own fault, of course.

Woohoo! Managed to whip, beat and cajole Shamus into downloading Red Baron 3D! He has access to a higher power's ADSL account and so is abused as much as we can - whipping him with liquorice-scented bootlaces ALWAYS works!

@ Albey - hats off to you, sir, for suggesting Wings of War! Arcade-like indeed, but loads of fun in a LAN setting! Of course, showing Sabre rockets is never a good idea... Shamus took GREAT offence to Sabre's liberal sprinklings of rocket dust...
