News on Nvidia's G71, Quad-SLI and NForce 5 chipsets coming out here. (http://www.cooltechzone.com/Departments/Featured_Story/NVIDIA_G71,_Quad-SLI_and_NFORCE_5_Chipset_Launch_Date_Confirmed_200602242200/)

For the lazy bums here's the whole stew :

(Insider Series) - After a number of debates and speculations, we finally have the launch dates for NVIDIA's next-gen. product lineup based on the G71 core. According to insiders, the launch is expected to take place at CeBIT 2006, and the cards will be placed under the 7900 series. We still dont have much details on the specifications, but NVIDIA told us they will be doing some pretty heavy duty HD gaming demonstration, which is a new initiative from them. The company, however, declined to comment on specific titles.

Additionally, there is talk of a press invite which seems to be discussing NVIDIAs seven wonders or something similar in connotation.

Here's a list of the seven wonders we believe NVIDIA is expected to talk about in the coming weeks:

Wonder 1: The launch of G71, or 7900 series of graphics adapters.

Wonder 2: Proper Quad-SLI. When we say proper, we dont mean the way they did it with Dell. This time it will be a massive and full blown launch.

Wonder 3: The all new 7900 SLI; we arent sure if this will be half of the Quad-SLI above, or whether or not it'll use two slots, but we'll certainly find out the answer on the showfloor.

Wonder 4: This again has been in the rumor mill for quite some time. The launch of the 7600. Yes, it will be launched during CeBIT 2006, and we will be able to play around with this. No details on the specifications, however.

Wonder 5: SLI for notebooks; NVIDIA plans to introduce SLI for high-end gaming oriented notebooks. This is simply stupendous.

Wonder 6: NF5 chipset. We have no idea what improvements have been made, but following history, it should be pretty exciting.

Wonder 7: NPB; this might stand for nForce Platform for Business. Basically, NVIDIA is getting serious about the business oriented PC market. With their C51 chipset, they offer a nice boost in power at a very affordable price. Our only problem with this logic is that majority of offices still trust Intel platforms and C51 is exclusive to AMD.

/me wonders if TG will move up to Quad-SLI

Can't they rather focus on introducing AFFORDABLE cards that can support some of the high end features!

1024x768 / 1280x1024 HDR and 4x AA.

I'd be perfectly satisfied with an affordable card that lasts longer than a year without crapping off...

i suppose in the end we might consider getting a console to avoid upgrading too often... thats a viable alternative now.

Console? No way. Not with the prices they charge for their games. And what do you thunk will happen when consoles get more and more popular? They will also shorten the product cycles and eventually bring out a new console every year.
