First one.
On my machine i telnet into anothe machine, a tcp connection is opened!
I then hibernate my machine, go home , come back the next day and start up my machine, somehow this telnet connection is still running and has not been disconected??????? Now i'm pretty damn sure the telnet client and server have no "resume" kind of logic in them, so i'm wondering how the hell this works!

DSTV's new anti piracy effort.
So i whip my smartcard out my decoder take it to my parents house stick it i their decoder and it doesnt work, i do the sms thing and then back at dstv headquarters they receive my sms, put my key in their data channel, it comes down to my ( and everyone else's) dstv decoder thats on in SA, my card and the decoder now have all the info they need and start showing me some tv!

So , now i go clone the card, stick it in another decoder, it doesnt work!
Do the sms thing, and surely both decoders and both cards will receive the key from the satellite and start working just dandy?

I don't see how the new anti piracy thing is sposed to actually work!

I think there is some sort of session identifier. The client doesn't close the connection, so the server waits (apparently there is no timeout set). Client comes back, Session ID is still the same.

And how many people exactly can clone a DSTV card? Anti-Piracy efforts are never aimed at eliminating piracy completely, that's not possible. They are just aiming at making it more difficult for the casual user, to the point of not being worthwhile. I can clone a DVD at the click of a mouse, but it took me a bit to get there. For a less knowledgeable user that is just greek.

You'll probably find that yes, your cloned card will work just fine in the one decoder, but the other one in the other decoder will stop working.
