Sounds good.
Hopefully they fix that f@#$@$ double reload bug as well. That sucker has got me killed a number of times.

Yea - in the midst of a blaring gunfight and artillery dodgem with 2 enemy APC's and an enemy tank for company, you somehow survive and then spend 40 seconds reloading - twice. Then this bloke spawns right in front of you - looks a little surprised - and then blows you away with one shot.

BANG BANG [Smacks the table] #$@#$ @#@# $@#$ %@#%@# [shouted out load] - try to relax - try to relax ...

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Man that one prisses me off beeg time.

Have had cases where it just reloads and reloads until you swap weapons. And it only seems to happen with the AT rocket. WG - what weapons you had it with ?

TG
14th December 2005, 10:32 AM
Definitely with the AT rocket, and since I'm usually Spec Ops - I've noticed it on that weapon too (unlock).

What is dolphin diving???

TG
14th December 2005, 01:14 PM
It's the act of jumping then immediately going prone, then immediately jumping.

It looks kind of like a dolphin jumping out the waves as it swims. :p

yeah, saw that... tried to feed them sugar cubes but out hopped a grenade instead....

i have been finding that the accuracy is not that good when you zoom with some of the weapons

stoke

That fsking shoot around the corner FS2000 is really annoyig as well.
How exactly does you get that weapon ?

TG
3rd January 2006, 12:58 PM
Unlock it in SF, and it's available in Classic. ;)

doobiwan
3rd January 2006, 02:38 PM
What shooting around the corners? What do you guys think of the SF upgrades? SCAR-L and f2000?

stoke
3rd January 2006, 02:59 PM
Me shooting.
Me runs out of ammo.
Me dives around corner while reloading.
Me dead - FS2000.
Me was around the corner FFS.
Same thing happens with APC and AA and TANK and Attack-Chopper-Gun rounds.
/me gets extremely angry.
/me exclaims that these SF upgrades are unfair and BIAS.
/me reminds himself that it's just a game.

oh so thats the funny gun i once got from a fallen enemy... for a moment i thought i was in Ghost Recon trying to figure out how to use the thing, pity it doesnt dent armor as i got run over by a tank while gawking on the weapon. Sigh...

doobiwan
4th January 2006, 11:43 AM
Aaah to the contrary, I took out a tank with the f2000 last night!

Karkand - standing at the Hotel flag, some =excel= (re:yank) dude pulls up in the M1 Abrams, I just kept popping it on top of the turret with the noob tube, and my with my final round I destroyed the tank.

I don't know if someone else had softened it up, but it was really satisfying.

sss
4th January 2006, 04:24 PM
i love that f2000, last night on karkand, me runs into bad enemy base, notice about 3 guys spawn, noob them with one shot, run around the corner to reload, run smack into 2 more dudes, noob them, run around to reload again, 3 more noobs run into my face, noob them, round around the corner again, see an apc, noob it aswell, run to the flag and noob 2 more that run after me!

I don't think it's as powerful as the g3 though.

sss - why aren't you wearing your |WrG| tag these day?

Some new info on the upcoming patch from EA, an interview (http://www.totalbf2.com/features/interviews/ea-dice4.php) with DICE's Armando Marini.

In the meantime EA's website (http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_011106) has been updated on news on booster packs and the patch.

12th January 2006, 07:34 AM
What puts me off most is that this patch will have at least 500 megs. Too much to pull it through my cap. Gonna have to ask someone of you guys to burn it on CD and speedpost it to me :p

And the booster packs will only be available for download as well...

doobiwan
12th January 2006, 09:37 AM
Hmm, $10 ain't much but it really smacks of "Capitalist Bastards"

Makes me keep disliking EA.

Ruslan74

did i just notice 3 of Doobi's posts being repeated or is my browser playing up on me?

You did...but I removed em. ;)

...is this a bad thing...seeing double or triple or whateva... not if u get the score for fragging all two / three / whateva :D

doobiwan

The problem is which one to aim at.

That's why I like the noob toob, you just have to get it 'generally' right ;)

Ruslan74
17th January 2006, 09:27 AM
many a time i die by the noob tube while killing my enemy with one as well..

its quite funny for two assault dudes to go "bleh" a mile away... :p

doobiwan
17th January 2006, 10:42 AM
There are few things more gratifying than hitting a blowing up a jeep with a noob toob. Especially if it's miles away and full . . .

Except maybe taking out a blackhawk with a jeep :D

SaintMg
17th January 2006, 12:35 PM
only thing i dont like about the noob tube is you only got a few rounds but by then most time i have to respawn but as murphy would have the moment i die just after running out of ammo there would 4 medics all trying to revive you and you will still end up dying not 3 steps away from where you last died

and as for blowing up a BH wif a jeep sounds like a good way to get my C4 badge got a plan going to hide just over the hill at one of the gas stations and in a jeep loaded wif c4 and when i see the BH disappear off the map then floor it

or

I could just lay c4 on the landing pad and wait for a few guys to jump in and then blow it but the jeep idea sounds by far more interseting

Ruslan74
17th January 2006, 12:50 PM
lol... i wish they could allow the C4 charges to have a stealth mode... :D

stoke
17th January 2006, 01:19 PM
C4 stealth mode = mine ?

Ruslan74
17th January 2006, 02:02 PM
no, just make the C4 charges invisible so you can really catch the enemy unawares while you hide in the bushes. ;)

Darnit696
17th January 2006, 09:18 PM
If you place them properly on the fuselage of the chopper they do "disappear" I managed to blow up the BH on Mashtuur City twice in a row like that. Hid just to the north down the slope behind the trees. U run up to the chopper and plant the C4 and can back away using it as cover. Unfortunately the second time they were onto me. But the first time Oh the joy ... I waited until they were over the hill flag point before flicking the switch... :D

rainy
17th January 2006, 09:37 PM
Pffft, mines. Had a funny one on Dragon Valley - well, not so funny for me. Dude drops AT mines around a flag, for whatever reason I don't know, since the flag was not really accessible. Anyway, he's gone, I sneak in and start capturing. Suddenly a friendly chopper hovers above me and triggers the mine - and I am the only one who gets blown up...

Shouldn't we make a thread for this sort of stuff? Funny and not so funny episodes? Sorry, I get carried away so easily...

Ruslan74

i for one am surprised at the range of claymores... i see one right in front at about a jeep's lenght away, so i think i can get around it and as soon as i get within the jeep's length distance it blows... it said nothing in the manual about this. :(

Darnit696
18th January 2006, 08:09 AM
Thats cause a claymore is thought operated like mines. As soon as you thought you could get around it it went off... :D
EDIT: Its part of those Murphy rules: If you think you can get away with it you wont. :)

rainy
18th January 2006, 08:23 AM
You don't have to be right on top of a claymore for it to go off. Same in real life. Claymores are anti-personnel mines with a wide range.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claymore_mine

Considering the real-life figures, the BF2 claymore is rather harmless ;)

Ruslan74
18th January 2006, 08:23 AM
it was an enemy claymore... i just wanted to bypass it since it was planted by a spawn spot...

doobiwan
18th January 2006, 08:42 AM
Unlike people that can, in a moment lie flat on the floor to evade the wheels of a humvee doing 60kph.

rainy
18th January 2006, 08:53 AM
I parachuted from a building the other day and got hit by a friendly vehicle. Didn't hurt me at all. Had I been standing there I would have been splat...

TG

XEye and I tested the distance for claymore detonations one night on my local server.

IIRC, it would go off at 8 meters.

Ruslan74
18th January 2006, 10:04 AM
*places reminder to take a ruler into BF2 just to stay away from peeping claymores*

:D

stoke
18th January 2006, 10:27 AM
Yea - so - when running - 8 meters = 4 seconds, when walking, 8m = 9 seconds ?

Ruslan74
18th January 2006, 10:42 AM
claymores wont detonate when driving jeeps will they?

rainy
18th January 2006, 10:46 AM
Yes they will.

stoke
18th January 2006, 01:56 PM
I didn't know that claymores could drive ...
This site is really informative :p!

Ruslan74
18th January 2006, 02:00 PM
so in other words i could plant two claymores on a jeep and drive towards infantry which would BLOW THEM UP FROM 8 METRES AHEAD! :D :D :D

TG
18th January 2006, 02:15 PM
But how can a claymore drive? They ain't got no E button?

:D

Ruslan74
18th January 2006, 02:22 PM
lol... no really, do you think this will work? i would have to stay away from friendlies big time though....

TG
18th January 2006, 02:29 PM
I doubt you will get the claymores to stay on.
When you try plop a mine on top of a vehicle, it usuall immediately flips off and hits the ground.

Unless EA comes out with a super glue booster pack, I think you're SOL.

Ruslan74
18th January 2006, 02:34 PM
i will give it a try ... at least you can perhaps boobytrap enemy vehicles against personnel.... this is coz the claymore kinda has feet which grip on to the ground, thats why i am curious about vehilce grip.

Some more updates - from yesterday (also shamelessly ripped from EA's site)

By now, you have all seen the list of fixes in the next update (1.2). We are still trying to nail down a few final items and put the final touches in place.

Here's a list of additional items to look for in version 1.2:
UAVs are now visible in the world so if you are being scanned, you can know about it and take action against it.
Rank progression is no longer limited to the enlisted ranks. All officer ranks are now available.
Bug that allowed players in vehicles to contest a flag from outside the flag radius is now fixed.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to clarify some confusion stemming from our updates.

The first item is on the topic of grenades. Players will still be able to toss grenades while jumping. Although the ability to fire while jumping has been removed, players will still be able to initiate a grenade toss prior to jumping and follow through with the toss, thereby gaining themselves some extra distance. We understand that there will be some adjustment in tactics required when the patch comes out but we are confident that the community will quickly come to grips with the new tactics.

The second item is on the topic of the booster packs. We have not created the maps as a separate expansion pack requiring a separate server. The booster packs will increase the content of the base game and thereby may be run on a server in regular rotation with the original maps.

Hope that clears up some of questions you’ve all been asking.

[EA]Mike and the rest of the Battlefield Team

"Although the ability to fire while jumping has been removed,"

I just LOVE that bit... it will surely stop with the bunny hoppers on the field... jumping while reloading is still OK but not while shooting. :)

and...

"Rank progression is no longer limited to the enlisted ranks. All officer ranks are now available."

What do they mean by that exactly?

stoke
19th January 2006, 02:11 PM
Yea ... enlisted ranks ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlisted_rank
Seems we can now become Warrant Officers or something ... wierd.

Ruslan74
19th January 2006, 02:17 PM
so the poor sods wont start as private anymore but as Field Cooks? :p

stoke
19th January 2006, 02:26 PM
Yea - I want to be the resident clothing officer.
The enemy wears red, we wear cammo.
Seriously ... if all the peeps on your side showed up wearing blue uniforms, the other team could wear the usual cammo clothes and there would be no need to wait for tags. If it's not blue- shoot it.

Ruslan74
19th January 2006, 03:28 PM
do you really think i wouldnt TK you with pleasure even if you wore blue? :p

rainy
19th January 2006, 04:35 PM
Well great. The booster pack maps don't require a separate server, they integrate with vanilla BF2. Which means those who don't get the packs have to rely on SGS to provide a standard server without the booster maps...

stoke
19th January 2006, 06:08 PM
Okay ... well then we're completely and utterly locked into the booster pack thing.
Bleugh.
/me sends email to stoke for tomorrow to get more lube cream...

TG
19th January 2006, 07:15 PM
Mebbe the maps will be free, but for the extra weapons you'll need the pack? Who knows really.

Ruslan74
19th January 2006, 10:17 PM
just pick up the weapons from the dead soldiers, they will be for FREE! :D

stoke
20th January 2006, 01:09 AM
Saint aint got Special Forces, but he can log onto my machine and play it there and get the FS2000 ... all for free - well - except 4 bandwidth.

We can probablee do the same wif these packs ...
