I have to give this one a thumbs up. It's very cute, a nice family movie - unlike the previous attempt with Bruce Almighty.

What was wrong with Bruce Almighty? I rather liked it.

Bruce Almighty had some "not so cool" stuff for the pre-teens...ie. growing boobs, skirt flash etc. when Jimbo uses his power for selfish

err... those things were the flicks only redeeming factor..

I don't recall Bruce Almighty being advertised as a family movie. And as far as Jim Carrey goes - he has his moments. Bruce was one of the better ones he made...

Pet Detective 2 was probably the worst drivel I have ever seen (apart maybe from the model rhino giving birth scene)...it was utter crap and I have really low standards when it comes to this kind of movie.
Jim Carrey in "Man on the Moon" was probably his best role ever, but his funniest movie...Me, Myself and Irene.

Of course this thread isn't about Mr Carrey, but about Evan Almighty who is placed by Steve Carrell who is pretty much the comic of the moment. I'm stil laughing about the scene in 40-year old virgin where they wax his chest!

I do generally feel uncomfortable watching movies where someone claims to be God or an Angel...doesn't sit right with me....I'll probably still watch it though, but I can wait for the video.

I dunno hey ... it seemed pretty swak. Apart for having one of the gilmore girls in it (man, i love the gilmore girls. Not the actual program, just the two gilmore girls. which one do you ask? Does it matter which one, i say. they're both hot. even the mom. But mostly rory ... especially her role in sin city ... and to think she's like 27 now. Wow.) *ahem, anyway*

It seems to me that Steve is trying to take over Jim Carrey's roles or place in hollywood. The little dances he does, etc. It just doesnt do it for me hey. I'd like to see him play a sincere role once. Like Jim did in the Majestics and The truman show...

i happen to enjoy Jim's comedy to a point, ace ventura was silly but cool ... but his best comedy performance has to be in Dumb & Dumber.

I wasnt crazy about bruce almighty, but i preferred it over this one. As for the Ark-ride... i mean really now.

Jim Carrey is a god among men and cannot do wrong!Any movie he makes is awesome and may he strike you down for your blasphemes!

I havnt seen Evan Almighty yet and I dont want to as it's just an attempt to cash in on Carrey's success with Bruce. Everyone is raving about this actor since the Ron Burgundy movie, but I think he's terrible. I have yet to see something that he's featured in that doesn't put me to sleep, like that awful series of his that I have forgotten.

More Carrey plz kthxbai.

I'm not a big fan of this new oke. He should stick to support roles.

Jim was pretty funny in fun with dick and jane as well. hmmm Tia ... she was hot in "The naked truth" and bad boys 1.

Jim Carrey.

Oh no you didn't!
How can you not like Jim Carrey? Have you seen the Truman show? Have you seen Eternal Sunshine?! The man is a genius, though he made some wonky choices in his career (Cable Guy), he is still a champion! It's a pity he made Bruce almighty (i enjoyed it, it was fun!) because i believe he is a decent, serious actor, that doesn't need to make films like those. I prefer his comedies like "Fun with Dick and Jane" But the man is brilliant, i cannot understand how people can't like him! Damn!

As for Evan Almighty - i really enjoyed it as well. I Don't want to compare it with Bruce though, i know it's a sequel, but they're two different films, purely because of the family value. It was nice, i enjoyed the ride, thanks for the recommendation T.

Jim was brilliant in Me, Myself an Irene. I can't think of another person that could have pulled that character off.
