I've renamed the 'applications' thread to 'clan applications' as some people seem to miss it completely, despite the various messages pointing them at it.
I have moved the threads in 'Newbies' to 'Battlefield 2', and removed the 'Newbies' forum. Nobody uses it, so there's no point keeping it around.

An angry fruit threatened to hold my non-existent hampster hostage until I created an Oblivion forum for him. Since I was there, I created the 'Movies' off-topic sub-forum that I've been thinking of adding for awhile.
For use in that forum, I have added a new tag - spoiler.
Then after further threatenings and rumblings from the fruit (probably caused by the fruitflies that constantly hang around his head), I added a tag called spoiler2. You can see samples either in the vbcode link at the bottom of every thread, or in the sticky thread in the Movies forum.
Enjoy.

I have enabled the user reputation facility.
You'll notice some dots underneath your post count, this is your reputation.
I'll be changing the reputation messages to something a bit more meaningful later on.
The rules (according to the software) are as follows:
Default rep: 10 points
For every 30 days you have been registered, you gain 1 point of altering power.
For every 100 posts, you gain 1 point of altering power.
For every 100 rep points, you can 1 point of altering power.
You must have 100 posts for your reputation giving/removing to actually have an effect.
You must have a minimum of 10 rep points (default) for your reputation giving/removing to actually have an effect. - This means that if you lose reputation, then your reputation adding / removing to others will have no effect.
You may only give/take reputation 10 times per day.
You need to spread reputation to 5 users before you can give/remove reputation from the same person.
Altering power is the amount of reputation points you give/remove with a reputation click.
EVERYBODY starts off with 10 points - then the various rules above will take effect.
Admins are exempt from the daily click limit.
BTW: You can adjust reputation by clicking on the 'scales' icon at the top right of a post (just next to the post number)

From the manual:
vBulletin's user reputation system provides a way of rating users based on the quality of their posts. Users on your forums can add or subtract reputation points from other users by clicking the reputation link in their posts.
User reputations allow the users in your community to tell vBulletin which users are quality and which users are not. And in response to user feedback, vBulletin has the ability to label and reward users for the quality of their posts, as is indicated by their reputation.
User reputation levels work very similar to user titles and user ranks in that they are an indicator of status that are displayed next to names in posts.

I "upgraded" the shoutbox the other day - actually, it was just a couple of security fixes, and I also included a fix for the problem where a shout that had an apostrophe in it was truncated when you tried to edit it.
While doing that, I accidentally reverted a mod I had made to the archive viewer - I had changed the number of shouts per page to 25 from the original 10. I realised this morning that it had been reverted, so I have now changed it to 50 per page.
Let me know if it is too much... I will revert to 25 if a couple of peeps complain about it.

I'll eventually add the same thing for the My System bit, but that's not very intensive.

You may have noticed a new category and some new forums: Feeds.
These forums are for our RSS news aggregator robot. It will post new entries from those sites every hour.
If you have any feeds you would like me to add, just give me the feed URL or the main site URL, and I will consider adding it. See this thread.
The RSS Feeds are on a trial basis. If peeps don't like it, I'll remove it.
TG

Riight.
There is now 1 forum (Feeds). The bot will pull in a max of 10 posts per feed. It will check every 60 minutes.
The 'Feeds' forum will not be indexed by the search engine, and it will not get included in the 'New Posts' function.
Users will have to manually go check the forums if they want to read the posts.

I have created a new profile field under Options where you can exclude forums from the 'new posts' feature.
Just enter the forum ID's that you wish to exclude, and you're done.
If you leave the field blank, forum 35 (Feeds) will be automatically excluded.
If you enter a forum ID to exclude, be sure to add 35 as well, otherwise you will find that it is no longer excluded, and you will be subjected to the spam that is the feeds forum.
