Damnit, this is pissing me off.
As soon as I got to ashford abbey everything just died. I can move my camera, but can't move at all.. then I got disconnected. Then I've been battling to get into the game - and Xeye is quite happily floating around the abbey - it's just me with these friggin' problems. Grr!

Nope - the updating had finished, all >320mb of it. I didn't get started at all until the updates finished.
Weird thing was that XEye was not having any issues at all.

I think the ADSL network went a bit flaky for me, as I was doing a pathping to the game servers, and most of the time it wouldn't get past the 4th hop. There are 11 hops in total to the game server for me.

After awhile, the pathping started working properly, and then I could play again. Very weird issues I was having last night.

FYI, the command line is: pathping -p 30 206.127.149.36

Oh fwiw, the last name of Rageskew is an anagram of War Geeks - feel free to use it if you create a new char.

@ Ruslan - your char (in the screenie you posted) is teh sexy! :D

Have you tried playing on the US or EU servers? Perhaps the various server districts have different latency issues with SA's DSL.

I was on EU - it doesn't matter tho - seems it was a temporary glitch. It seemed to have sorted itself out after about half an hour or so.

I was wondering what kind of policy you guys have in terms of membership of the WrG guild? I am thinking of moving guild. I personally might be able to apply for WarGeek membership based on my BF2 teamkill score, but people like my wife and some others I know in GuildWars do not play BF2.

I am sure we can make a plan. Here's a proposal:

First you have to donate all your dosh and black dye to the guild, it will then be split up among the existing members. Second, you have to show all your weapons - we pick what we want, you can have the rest. Third, same procedure with armor. Then you have to go on one quest with each of us, protect us and take the brunt from the monsters, opponents etc - if the character you are with loses one lifepoint, then unfortunately it means you stuffed up and don't qualify for guild membership.

Is there anything I forgot? :D

Someone actually wanted to tell me that I should keep my mouth shut when newbies are trying to sell black dye for cheap. I should not act detrimental to people who worked hard for 'advantageous knowledge'. That was when I decided, fuck this, I'm outta there. I hope there are less idiots in post-searing Ascalon... ;)

Yes, the pre-searing black dye scammers are some of the worst people in the game in my opinion. Glad to hear you gave some of them a hard time. It is amazing the excuses they give for their lying and cheating when one warns the victims. These kinds of idiots are spread out more evenly in post-searing, so fortunately are not all concentrated into one city. :)

I have absolutely zero respect for people who try to do that sort if shit, even if it's only a game. What they don't realize is how quick you can spoil a newbie's fun. I may be a newbie in GW, but I am not new to gaming, so I don't keep my mouth shut when someone tries to pull one in my presence.

While you cant really, 'Finish' the game, You can get to the end of the PVE story line.

hey lost marble,

i dunno bout the cap damage. i cant imagine it being too hectic. I've been playing for 5 days now. and all of that on my 56k dialup (shut up - i know). Hence, 'Yomah_Sahara' is no longer seen getting pwned by FiB and ASSAULT idjits. and the game's been running 100%. no lagging nothing. all that takes time is the loading of new worlds (but also only once off).

so yar, i cant see it busting your cap any more than browsing pr0n would :|
