Awesome movie! Ruddy language, sarcastic humour, the right dose of violence, and a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the whole 151 minutes. Great cast - I am actually growing fond of Leo DiCaprio. First Blood Diamond, now this - the boy can act! Matt Damon is competent as usual, Mark Wahlberg is becoming quite a decent actor as well, and there is nothing bad one could have to say about the likes of Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen and especially Jack Nicholson. The man has got the creep role down to the inch. One of the best mobster movies I have watched.

My movie of the year, actually. Apparently Scorcese let Nicholson ad-lib whenever he wanted to, resulting in an almost entirely impromptu role. The scene where he confronts Leo DiCap in the bar, wanders off and then sneaks up behind him is one such example. Apparently he was supposed to stay off-camera, which explains the genuine look of surprise on DiCaprio's face when he hears Nicholson behind him.
Good ending too!

it was a pretty good movie. It was actually adaptated from the original '94-or-thereabout japanese movie called "Internal affairs", except in that movie the main guy didnt die in the end - but i like this one better.

Really brilliant movie, nice and fresh, off the beaten track and not easy to predict, made it a great experience to watch :sharp:

Besides Titanic, Di Caprio hasn't really made any career decisions that i've frowned upon, or given any less than a stellar performance. Let's look at the early work - "What's eating Gilbert Grape?" As the mentally handicapped Arnie, most critics who were not familiar with him from his "Growing Pains" days, actually BELIEVED that he was retarded.

But it was his performance as the the "innocent" Frank Abagnale that boosted this boytjie into my favourites column. He is a fantastic actor, extremely versatile, i think it would be fair to say he is fearless, and i'm really looking forward to his future works.

As for Scorsese, the man is a god that can do no wrong. Sure, he changes tempo and style on the odd occasion (Aviator), but the man has a knack for depicting true characters in gritty real-life situations. I believe it's the eyebrows that give him his Sampsonesque powers, he should never trim them!

'Catch me if you can' was brill. I wasn't so sure about 'Aviator' though. Was a wee bit over the top for me...

Boys, you have to go back and watch the classic Scorsese's, stuff that changed cinema's history! Mean Streets! Taxi Driver! hell, Taxi driver actually had the potential to change the American political scene! SHO!
