read it here. (http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/home.jsp)
Yip, one day ahead of schedule :
The battle expands in this first booster pack to 2005's hit game Battlefield 2. Take the powerful new Euro Force into action as you battle for control of all-new Asian locations.
The all-new Euro Force Army, with a full arsenal of the latest technology.
3 new maps, from battles in the Taraba Quarry and Operation Smoke Screen to close-quarters mayhem around the Great Wall of China.
4 new vehicles including the Leopard battle tank, Eurofighter Typhoon, and Tiger attack chopper.
7 new weapons including FAMAS and P90 rifles.
You can buy the expansion for $9.99 from this link. (https://account.ea.com/commerce/main.jsp?ipath=17&locale=en_US&sls=2&site=eaco&skin=commerce&app=homepage)
So who's getting this pack? I would rather wait for a full blown Golden Edition of BF2 which should include all the packs in the near future, expect EA to do that just to get more bucks. ;)

I'll get it if/when SGS servers get/support it...
Unless I can still use the goodies in Vanilla, then I'll get it right away...

Guild Wars has nabbed my time lately, so I'll wait a bit on this.

I am waiting to get this. Firstly I am not keen on blowing another 400 megs through my cap right now (which GW will chew anyway), secondly I want to be sure how things work with EF, ahd that it is actually played. The R200 on SF was a bit of a waste...

Digitalplanet sells EuroForce for R99. I think it's the 'boxed' version which only contains a download code, so you still have to download. Anyhow, with the Outsurance promo going on at Digitalplanet, you can try and get it for 'free' - unless you're an Outsurance client of course...

Hmmm - would like to get it - will wait and see what will happen on the SGS servers first though ... and wait for some feedback from other guys that have downloaded it to see if it will be worthwhile ..
Edit: The outsurance quote route might be good though - I in any case want to get some insurance quotes again, as my insurance has been slowly creeping up over the last few years ... :(

But if you buy it direct from EA it is R63. And you have to download it.
Gosh! What a bargain.

Yup - according to Digital Planet :
Product Information
Please Note: Once payment has been received, Digital Planet will email you your download code and website URL where you can download the booster pack
Why would anyone rather spend R100 on something that you can get for R63 ????? I ask you !!

Well I'd think about it only because I could use some eBucks.
I'd just like some clarity on what I get. Do I get a download executable that I can run as many times as I want - I have 3 Battlefield 2 accounts, 3 Special Forces accounts (Kids and a brother) but I need a key per each. Or do I get the ability to update my machine in realtime - in which case I am looking at 1.2GB worth of download.
Please - any answers.

Hmm - think you'll have to find out from someone on the SGS forums, unless someone here takes the plunge ..
(I'm still desperately holding back ....)

Someone at SGS jumped into the cold water...

I refuse to buy it because Special Forces was such a waste. There is no reason not to play it (Special Forces). I dont see why the guys are going to play this one (Euro Forces).
SOOO... What's the point. Meaningless meaningless everthing is meaningless ( To quote the Great Book)

Not happy. Had a CRC error on install and Great Wall 64 player map is stuffed/not there. Who knows whatelse? I am not interested in having to download 1.2 GB everytime a patch comes out either because the EA or DICE turkeys have no concept of testing.

If the download can be re-installed, I'll get it too, otherwise, I'm in the boycott crowd.
If option one works, I'm happy to download, and let everyone in my area have a copy. You then only have to pay to get the "key".
If EA didn't think of doing it this way, there is no hope for the human race..... WE'RE DOOOOOMMMMMEEEEDDDDD! Ooops, wrong game - this is BF2 right?

I am boycotting EF for now. It seems that EA Downloader is a STEAM-like system, and there is no clarity whatsoever as of how the download is reusable. A guy on SGS said that the download can only be used for the PC it was downloaded on. Stupid shit, I say. SF was a waste anyway, I am not throwing more money into this bottomless pit called EA Games.

According to the set up thingy you can download to any number of machines that you want (at 352MB a time). It uses your GameSpy nick to determine whether you can use that map on one of the online servers. When you buy it you have to provide your GameSpy nick/account name. So - yep use it on thousands of machines but you'll only have one 'copy' active at any one time.

Yeah, but can I download once and then grab the package and install it on another PC without having to download again?

I had a chat with a tech support guy at EA regarding this thing and hopefully he'll come back with a positive answer.
Gary Waterworth aka Bomber has made an offer on SAIX that people can go around to his house and get a copy of the files. I've called him on this and I hope he will phone - I think he lives in Kempton Park so I'll have to dig the passport out.
I don't know what or where the temporary file I downloaded goes or went. perhaps he (Gary) has figured it out. I'll keep you all posted anyway.

Some news - The downloaded file is sitting in a cache directory and it has a setup executable. 357MB of stuffs. I guess that it could be burnt and reused.
I only have 16 and 32 player maps. MAybe they not provided or maybe my corruption issue fragged them. Anyone else have an update on that.
No problem making copies of CDRoms but it may be corrupt. Let's check that before we go that route.
BTW - you can only access the maps if you are logged online. Single player not happy. I haven't tried logging on and seeing if you can play single player though. I haev a meeting and then I'll test. Film at 5.

As much as I'm craving new BF maps, I kinda feels it's wrong EA are just trying to milk loyal fans by not approveing fan made content for ranked servers.

If we wanted extra maps then perhaps we could get the map packs that came out a while back. There are enough clan members to justify us booking a server for a map pack evening. :D I saw one of the servers running maps from the maps packs a while back, so it can be done.

I've got them (3 packs currently available I think), as do a few other people. I'm willing to make copies for those who don't have if they're interested, or I can put it up on a local (SA) server - not sure of speed there, as I've never tried this.

Sorry for sowing confusion.
There is single player BUT you have to log on online. That is something that map packs don't have. So, yep. There are a bunch of fodder dudes runnning about for you to kill.
I haven't tried starting up a game and then pulling my network cable out yet.

Single Player stills works and there are also international servers still running and playing EF as of this morning.
