Ok, so the IT guy and I were supposed to put together a presentation on internet usage in Africa. We got a bit sidetracked and had a little chin wag on cool inventions, or rather cool things, in both the fictional world the non-fictional world.

I thought; great idea for thread and lekker feel good discussion!

So, you are only allowed to choose one thing, and explain to us what it is, where you saw it or whether you made it up. To get the ball rolling, i thought that I'd like to have the following items (bear in mind that i am a boy, so sorry if i don't list a real "My Little Pwnie"

1. The hover-board from Back to the future. Because it's cool, and then i'd DEFINITELY take up skateboarding as a sport. That thing works on water, softer falls.
2. the TIME MACHINE from Back to the future, so i can go back, buy the coke patent for 200 years, buy 10% in Microsoft/Yahoo/Google, open a savings account in 1952 with $1000 in it... Introduce Uzi's to king Arthur... so many things to mess with.
3. a Lightsabre. I don't believe any explanation needed on THAT bad boy
4. Harry Potter's wand, plus i'd like to attend hogwarts to learn how to use the damned thing.
5. James bond's Z8 BMW.
6. Millenium Falcon or the Ebon Hawk
7. Captain Jack Sparrow's compass, i'd like to know what exactly it is that i want. That compass could come in handy!
8. Honey i shrunk the kids shrink ray. Packing would be such a breeze!
9. Druss, the deathwalker's Axe. That should scare intruders.
10. A pipboy. Just because it's cool!

I dunno, i can't think of any more.
Anyway, you get to choose one, either from this list, or something else i couldn't think of. this has potential!

Kom ons bou ligkastele, dan kan ander mense dit verf.

Snaga the Sender! Hey Blinks didn't know you're a Druss fan, he's one of my fav lit characters ever!

If I could choose only one of those it'd definitely be the light saber... such an awesome toy

Yep, ou Snaga is wild!
I only have two books though, are there more?

I forgot to mention that i would also like the remote control from "Click", but it's got to be more user friendly and i don't want it to program itself.

I want the Death Star! Then I'll sit in the throne room dressed in a robe and hood, turning people to the Dark Side. I do happen to have the knack for making people want to strike me down...

Oh, and it's LUGkastele. Jy is deur die letterkunde-polisie bedien.

Mmmm, lightsaber, but a bit impractical and doesn't impress the ladies.

Hmm, I think maybe the one ring? Yeah I don't mind Sauron, I work on a corporate network, I'm used to people watching me all day ;)

Ooh, the Point Of View gun from HitchHiker's would also be cool. Used in conjunction with Jackie Sparrah's compass :D

Wingnut, I like your sig - perfect description of a Mother

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

As you know, I am a Bond fan, so I will start with some of his gadgets...

1. The white Lotus Esprit used in The Spy Who Loved Me - with the price of fuel now, we can travel all over the world via the oceans. :D

2. The mobile phone used in Tomorrow Never Dies - it had a few uses that include a stun gun, a lock pick, and you can control your vehicle, so if you don't feel like walking all the way in the rain, carrying the bags of groceries, you just let your car come to you.

3. The Aston Martin DBS in Casino Royale - along with the usual bells and whistles it had, it also had a first aid kit in the glove compartment (including a defibrillator)

4. The portable memory eraser from Men In Black - self-explanatory. Maybe the remote control from Click would fall into the same category.

5. The holodeck on Star Trek.

6. The Batmobile - it looks super cool

I am sure there are lots more, but can't think of any now.

Sure, but what would you do if you ran out of fuel in the middle of the ocean?!
Damn, i'm such a geek, yes, the lotus is DEFINITELY a winner!

Drusky, full marks for Save/Load - i think that could substitute many, if not all, of these gadgets.
