The price is before taxes - what is the betting that it will be more than $5,000 in this country after taxes?

The Car mag lists the bottom of the range model at about 20K.

Yet their site shows no mention of it?

Those wheels are TINY!
I'd love to see how that thing would cope on our roads with that top speed and those kaskar wheels, and i'd like to see what the regulatory would say the price should be.

Ah .... this is a car for driving on pavements! In South Africa that will sort out the pothole issues :D

I would actually buy one of these just for Meg to take the kids to school. Every morning my beautiful Volvo sits in 40 mins of traffics doing about 5 km. This pushed the fuel consumption to 13.7 liters / hundred

But at least they are safe in that petrol guzzling vehicle.
what do you think would happen to them in a nano?
Dang, if the wheel pops you can write the car off.

Well according to when Tata launched the Nano it met all the safety requirement standards, how many stars I don't know though...

 Good question!
But India is one of the emergind economies and the second largest country (population wise) in the world. I'm sure they won't make crap, but i don't want to be the one to test it out.
Tata is a great company after all, they have the consumer in mind here.

Not a clue on what standard though...

Apparently they might even just break even with the costs on this car, so I can't see them pumping it too hard.

They will make up for it in the after-sales market, you can bank on that.

I would like to know what the RRP in SA would be, if we ever get it. I can't see why we shouldn't get it, technically speaking we are an underprivileged 3rd world country.
