Knife Combat Questions

Hi Folks

A few questions (without getting to serious about kniving eachothers bums):

1. In a knife fight where your opponent has chosen to equip knife too: what is the combat ettiquette? Is jumping allowed - when does it become bunny hopping? If someone approaches me with a knife when do i laugh and empty my mag in his face vs pull my knife out?

2. I am struggling to get my basic knife badge - does anyone have some good tips? (That don't involve stats padding - I wanna try and get this legit)

3. Do all knife hits kill right away or can you get a hit which just causes damage?

4. When you get knifed in the bum - can you still play BF2 while standing? lol

1.1) Jump around if the other guy does, dont if he doesnt
1.2) ALWAYS pull out gun if it is an enemy of the clan (ie, Asault/Fib :p)... If not, use your descretion (does this guy TK on purpose AND TKP, is he just an ass generally etc)

2) Good tip: Play urban server on friday nights. Other than that, heres a sneaky hint that may help: be a sniper and run in the same direction as the enemy, though not in a threatening way. Most people, when confronted by a sniper, wont bother to check who's side if he LOOKS like hes on his, because the camo looks so similar (just my experiences :p) Once I ran with an opposing squad across half the map, followed them up a ladder, then knifed ALL of them in the back... life is sweet... :p

3) Knife hits don't (to the best of my knowledge) cause damage: they are instant kill. However, you can keep knifing someone when it looks like theyre being knifed, but they actually aren't. BF2 glitches... :(

4) No comment... It hurts too much to think about :p

1. Honestly, I don't give a flying crap. I find knifers lame at times, especially the ones who run towards you waggling their blade. I take the gun out and try to shoot them. Message: if you're into knife fights, find someone who appreciates them. :snipe:

2. I haven't even tried for the badge yet ;)

3. You don't kill right away - you have to hit the right spot.

4. No idea, haven't tried :p

stick around the buildings at hotel and mosque at Mushuur City. I must have about 30-40 Knifings there.

1) jumping either way is stoopid coz you cant attack anymore while your in the air

2)play on friday nights as feral says and try play on sharqui i find it easiest by far on this map try in the city entrace area and by the consttruction site

3)knife hits do the same damage where ever you hit but dont always kill one shot against enemies with armour eg. assault, support for these it takes 2 hits. but basicly you can hit him in the head or in the toe and it does exactly 100 damage (i think not sure on amount of damaeg but its always the same) but armoured apponents have around 120-130 health

4) getting knifed in the bum hurts and playing bf2 standing also hurts (your score)

1. Hopping doesn't help you because you cannot strike well hopping and he can.... it's easier to hit a bunny hopper up close with a knife and hurt him (-100 consistently regardless of where you strike) than a gun (damage seems to differ based on where struck)....and if you get someone coming at you with a knife ... play it by ear. if you want that badge ...pull out yours. If it's and asault/FIB shoot him in the head. If it "=BFB= MAC" than I do the same....two shots between the eyes for him.


2. Try go for spots where people tend to congregate and there are good spots to hide out.. e.g. top of TV station in Sharqi. Mosque in Mashtuur. in and around hotel in Karkland.

Remember that you can dive - stab ... and impressive movement taught to me by Brawler/RBurley.

Simple - wait till peep is exactly the right distance away, press z, click, peep's dead.

What's the right distance ? Hektually, I still have not gotten it right :sad:.

I've been killed by more knives than a blind sushi chef with a tic! My stats, though, tell me that I should be terrified of defibrillators - 289 deaths! That can't be right! Methinks there's a bug in the system...

I'm not entirely sure, but I think that's the amount of times you've been killed with defibs equipped. I don't think it's the amount of times you've been killed BY them.

@ neddy:that's how many times you have been killed with your defibrillator in your ahnds...same goes for knife deaths...silly way to log stats IMO.

1)There is no etiquette...knife him if you want...or kill him with a gun if your score is crap.Most knife duels I find end up being 50/50.The head is a good insta-kill zone.Play late night games on the weekend,there are less players therefore more kills therefore more opportunities for you to knife the suckers.Knife hits to the head/neck/foot are insta-kills,but like someone said,the armour worn by the player plays a role.Knife in the bum is gross.

I am coming up for Master Sgt so i need the knife and pistol badge soon...

I have to say i had a 30 sec knife duel with s3enate last night, i got him. My heart was in my throat, i almost pee'ed in my pants and I felt like a noob again :)

I also ran up to someone as they turned around and I knived them straight in the face. It felt rude! and LEKKER

Use the assault or support kit when going for the pistol badge. The extra armor helps a lot.

How fun is it when this happens:

I run straight at some tool brandishing a knife as though im trying to get him to repent... He obviosly goes nervous and repentant or something coz he starts shooting me... nearly point-blank range... take a few shots, but he starts shooting in random directions... knife him IN THE FACE... fun times...

a BIG thank you for the advice - today I got my basic knife badge :) :) :)

I am still a bit emotional and am only just starting to talk about it...lol

I was sneaking up behind some guy when low and behold three more of his squad suddenly spawned, all lying down in a row facing the opposite direction. So I crawled up to the last guy and pecked them off... LEKKER

The advice about running in the same direction as the enemy sqauds defn helped.

Knifing is leet, the other night/morning there were very few of us on the server, so we had an infantry only fight, and then the one after that was knives only. If you wanna know what thats like, imagine 10 okes bundling around each other ducking and diving like a spastic blue crane. I got my badge by pouncing on unaware snipers. The n00b ones are very unaware, and are an easy kill.

Now explosives.... that was a hard one to get, next on my list is Pistol, going to try do the whole sniper/pistol thing.

@fivel: Knife&Pistol servers are against EA's ROE. So is any kind of encouraging/demanding that players only use certain weapons or vehicles. EA regards this as stat padding. If you pull that sort of stuff on a ranked server, you will be treated as a cheater/stat padder. SGS made it clear in several posts that they cannot and will not look the other way when they come across this.

Kinfe&Pistol only is for unranked servers, I am afraid...

I actually got with c4 (use instead of nades), but clays work ubernicely :D

Pistol: "snipe" Ie, get to a nice camping spot, but use your pistol instead of sniper/pkm or whatever you use... Top of mosque=good, area by first flag in karkand=good, anywhere on a roof in sharqi=good...
