I have Elswyth's Long Bow, courtesy of Pios. The absolute uber r0x0r bow and probably the one I will be using til the end of the game. Other than that, nothing is realy cooking, I have yet to get into regions where you get the fancy stuff.

They tend to be gold or green. Green items are unique items that are dropped by some bosses...

Yes, I would suspect that sword is still worth more than 1mil. If I save up for the next lifetime, I might be able to affort it. The most valuable item I have is a green monk stave that goes for about 10K I think.

What is the biggest whoop ass sword you are willing to part with for 5K.
How do we valuate our weapons??
gus
4th April 2006, 03:36 PM
The weapons Pios list is more for people collecting rare stuff than for actual fighting. I often pick up swords that give 15-22 damage. Let me know if you want me to keep one for you.

I belive the drop rate for a perfect low req Crystaline Sword is something like 0.0001% chance or something.
However I did get that from a HoH(PvP) chest.

I have a nice Illusion mesmer staff, a green one...
gorrels staff +30 +30 health ( I know this is +60 but thats how the staff displays it:p )has a few other attributes which I cannot remember...
Will post pic later tonight when I get home...
Any idea how much it might fetch if I were to sell it?
gus
4th April 2006, 07:05 PM
I cannot get a good price fix on the staff, but it seems to be about 5K. Maybe more if you are patient selling it. Why not rather keep and use it?

wow, that much...thing is, I use mainly domination and I dont meet the req 9 illusion...
but mebbe ur right and I should hang on to it untill I get more spells ...I might convert from domination to illusion ...
tx for reply :)
gus
4th April 2006, 07:30 PM
5K is nothing. There are green items that go for over 100K. Mostly for warriors.
Not worth selling a good weapon you can use yourself for that little. When you are level 20, you can be max in domination and still have enough attribute points for 9 in illusion.

Sold my Crystaline sword last night
Price: 100k + 580 ecto
I wanted more, but. I suppose that is a good enough price.
Works out to 100000 + (580 * 6500) = 3,870,000 gold

WOW! I need to make some cash, I cant believe this kill pickup and sell routine is the way to go. There must be a quicker way. @GKM, Thanks for the sword!!!! Works like a charm!
Pios
5th April 2006, 11:45 AM
Well, Pick up and sell to merchant, if it is white, or purple, or gold, and not perfect,
If it is pefect try sell to players.
Just know that it takes a UBER item to get good cash, and well, takes a while to sell.
I had that sword up for auction for about 2 months before I actually sold it.
Then again I was driving the price up all along. *shh dont tell em*
So, If you want good cash you have to farm, if you farm you need good cash to start, catch 22 but hey ...
gus

@Pios: I think I need to start begging. :D
@Slappy: Pleasure. Just be warned that that sword can kill you in a long cutscene, so make sure you have something else to equip using another weapon slot while not fighting.
I decided to make a 55 hp mesmer yesterday. Then practiced a bit on ettins, but only got about 2K worth of junk (half that was a major vigor) on a quick run (once out and back). Then paid 1K to enter the underworld and got disconnected before I started fighting. So, my total profit is still about -9K. :hurk:
Edit: Should add that I think ettin farming is faster and simpler with my ele in boomer mode, but one certainly dies a lot less with the 55hp build. :D

No. The belt pouch is always five slots. The two bags you can also carry can be doubled to 10 slots using one of those runes.
The runes rainy is talking about are ones you can buy from the rune trader in Ascalon city (and other cities). When you apply them to your armor pieces, they increase some of your attributes. If enemies drop blue, purple or gold armor pieces, you can also salvage that with a superior salvage kit to try to get the rune that is on that armor.
What the dickens is Farming????
Planting mielies and hoping it will rain. :D
Actually, it is repeatedly killing monsters in areas that are known to have good drops. Tend to be fairly borning, which is why it is called farming. For example, the ettins north of Lion's Arch drop a lot of runes. I got 5 runes from them last night by killing about 15 ettins on my own. Ecto's are usually the most expensive component in the game, since it is used to make Fissure of Woe armor, so farming for that in the underworld or to a lesser extent the new underworld (only two place where it normally drops) is a prime form of farming. There are monsters that do something like 500 damage per hit in the underworld, so it is not for the faint hearted. Farming the underworld is fairly complicated and I do not know much about it. Pios would be the person to ask about that. You also need to be ascended to go there.
Pios
5th April 2006, 03:03 PM
Well,
Lets see, Underworld(UW) is a place you get to from the temple of ages, Now, Since this is pretty much the top end of the PVE area's you need to be prepared to face some of the hardest hitting stuff you will ever face down/up there.
Firstly, You pay 1000 gold to get in there, Also you can only get in there if your region has the favour of the gods.
So, you tell your self you are ready for this and you think you can handle getting hit by 5/8 monsters that does on average 500 damage per hit.
I have news for you, You ARE NOT Prepared.
You may also ask your self what classes are best to go down there with. Now this is a bit of a question.
I will attempt to answer this as best I can, In my oppinion, You can go down there alone as a Mesmer or a monk.
You may be tempted to ask why a mesmer or a monk. Well the answer is quite simply because they have the best of oth worlds. They can deal damage and take damage.
Now before I go on, You may be asking your self How does a monk or mesmer handle taking 1500 damage per second. The ONLY way you can acchive this is to ONLY have 55 health.
While this seems like a quick way to die, it is ..... If you are not prepared.
You will need to set your self up with a few spells that will help you live longer.
The spells I am talking about here are Mending, and Protective Spirit, For those of you that are not familiar with the skills here is a quick run down
Mending provides you with a set amount of constant healing. and Protective Spirit Reduces the damage you take to a max of 10% of your total health.
Now you will notice you have a way to keep your self alive, But you run out of energy. This is solved by using the enchantments called Balthazaar's Spirit, And Essence Bond.
Those 2 skills will help you gain enough energy to maintain the other enchantments.
Now depending on how brave you are you may choose to ignore protection.
I feel that once you have enough experience in UW you will not need Spell breaker. But I do suggest you do take that innitially.
So you will have a set of skills that allows you to stay alive. You may now want to actually kill the monsters in the UW. To do this you have a few methods, While using that wand you have may seem like a good idea, The monsters in UW regen faster than you can damage them with a wand.
For mesmer you will need Ilusionary Weaponry, Or as a Monk you may be tempted into taking Shield Of Judgement.
I will be more than happy to show you UW if you feel you need a demo. Provided you pay for the entry.
Anyhow,
Pios

Yes, I had two visits to UW over lunch. First time did not realize how bad the bleeding would be, so died practically immediately. Another 1K down the drain. Second time I casted healing breeze in time (on top of mending), so killed 5 of our little friends before the sixth one got me to due to a miscasted healing breeze. At least I made half my entrance fee back that time. :) I guess practice will make perfect.

Always great fun to miss a healing breeze
HB is not as bad as missing a PS

Yes, missing a PS would have slightly more instant results (one the lying on the ground kind), so I was watching that real carefully.

About farming, I think I read somewhere that the game notices when you repeatedly kill monsters in a certain area, and then lowers the value of the random drops.

I am afraid there is NO proof in this, Well, not much, you just run out of luck .... I cant prove any of this, but you have a finite amount of luck, It WILL run out sooner or later ...

I find it hard to believe that greens will stop dropping. The prices of greens seems to have collapsed recently, probably due to collecters cashing in to get more money for factions. I would not expect that to happen if greens are going to get scarcer. But stranger things have happened before.
I also saw somebody trying to sell a green item in the factions preview. I do not know if that was a scam or real.
I have experienced the farming block code mentioned above. I wanted a specific collector item and I only knew the location of one monster that dropped it. So I killed that monster repeatedly. After a while the game warned me that the value of my drops are going to start decreasing. After another couple of rounds, nothing dropped at all from killing anything. I had to go play in some other areas for a while before I got drops again. So, for farming, one has to move around between areas to be on the safe side.
@Marble: Poor Gorrel must be bleeding badly by now from all the highway robbery he has experienced. :D

Slappy, I do not know much about warrior farming, but one option you have for farming is the three (or four) man queen farming at Augury Rock. The group consists of a warrior, fire elementalist and monk. The group can also add a ranger, mesmer or necro to improve farming speed. This group then goes out and kills the queen (http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Kepkhet_Marrowfeast) and all her minnions. The queen sometimes drop a green stave and the minions also have good drops sometimes.

in chests i found like 5 or 6 green items best price the merchant will give me is 50g and the lowest is 14g

any ideas what to do wif the rest can donate if anyone wants to use
details to follow:

Huh, are you sure they were not blue, rather than green? I never heard of a green weapon dropping from a chest. Any salvage armor piece (from a chest or monster drop) that contains a minor rune would also usually be blue.
