It rocks!

Besides the fact that there are some crud songs and no AC DC it is still awesome.

Pricey in that it'll set you back R800 for the Wii and more for the others, why? Because you need a piece of wire and we all know how expensive that can be - probably because those other gamers are akin to fish in a barrel come hunting season.

GH3 are all wireless controllers across all platforms.

Reason the Wii version is cheaper is because the control is missing a huge chunk of tech inside it. Pretty much the blue tooth sensor and motion sensor are none existent in the control, instead you connect your Wiimote to it and that acts as the bridge. Cleva :D

But Yeah GH3 is sweet, the first one that was only on the PS2 still is the best (come now any game that has Iron man in it will win hands down)

Blinky brought his copy / axe around to my place last Saturday. Me, him and XEye had a complete blast playing Legends of Rock over a couple of beers.

Now I know for sure that Blinky is a ROCK STAR! He's awesome! :D

We actually avoided playing WoW for several hours while we were playing this! :)

HAHAHAHAHA! Man, it was really fantastic, and i was hesitant to buy it at first but when i saw the selection of tunes, i was very happy - sure, there are a few songs that are questionable, but it really is a very nice soundtrack.

The problem is, i was playing it in my sleep on saturday and on sunday, and i was plying it on my dog, when he was sitting on my lap and i was trying to watch Babel :D

The thing is, it's very easy to say "Ok, jyust one more song, not biggie" and that turns out to be "Ok, i'll just finish this section" and that gets converted into "Ok, really, just one more song, if i screw up, i'll switch it off" and THAT turns into "Damn, i love playing this one, i might as well finish it and get the cash - love the cycle.

Almost finished the game on the medium section, then i am going to go back and try to get a perfect score on every song, else i don't think i'll get very far with the hard setting.

but ja, flippen awesome game. I was MOERSE annoyed when my internet connection failed yesterday, but also pleased since this is a very nice game to have as a back up.

I wasn't so enamoured with the GH3 track list, RB's looked more my cup of tea. HOWEVER. The new GHWT drumkit looks wicked, and the new song list is also really great.

GH4 versus RB2 is going to be epic!

TG

Ok, expand on the acronyms!

GH3 = Guitar Hero 3
RB = Rock Band

wth is ghwt?

RotoRouterZA
30th June 2008, 11:38 AM
ghwt = guitar hero world tour :D

senorblinky
30th June 2008, 11:42 AM
It sounds like it could be Guitar Hero World Tour?
But you would have to check with a gaming website/other people to confirm. I think that's what i'm going to do right now!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_IV
yep, i was right!

Edit:
Damnit RRZA!! :valkoog:

Dang. Reading the wiki pages for both ghwt and rock band, the games sound awesome.. and freakishly expensive for the different controllers. :yikes:

And to think, a sweet 6 string costs like R500.

As long as you don't break it, i don't mind the cost for the level of fun you get out of it! Seriously! And at least the Guitar is universal, i won't have to buy one again soon, i can just expand my GH collection.

And to think, a sweet 6 string costs like R500.
Ja, but i can't play that
And i don't think that a 6 string for R500, and then R400 worth of lessons would help me play "Paint it Black" or "Barracuda" as well as i currently do on my Xbox :D

My colleague who shares the company house with me in Nelspruit got himself GH:Rock the 80's and it's a LOT of fun. Doesn't have a lot of songs (only 30) but it's got some really cool classic 80's tunes (some of which I never even knew existed, but are now some of almost all-time favourites!)

Don't they have any of the prev GH versions' songs available as DLC in GH3?

Noodle
30th June 2008, 03:00 PM
Nope if you want it then buy GH2... :p

I want GH1 for the PS2, it comes with IRON MAN!!!!!!!

I needs it :(

doobiwan
30th June 2008, 03:48 PM
Noodle isn't that available as a download for Rock band?

the difference between GH3 and RB DLC is that GH3 DLC won't be available in GHWT :(

RB will :)

Another onslaught of acronyms!
Thankfully i know (for a change what you all are talking about)
My best song to play in GH3 is that Queens of the Stone age track (3's & 7's) or Muse's Knights of Cydonia - but that is a BIATCH in Medium... I'm sommer scared for hard.
Of course there are other tracks i like a lot, but that's just my favourite, such a funky beat!

http://songza.com/z/emmu5x - this is a song database - just searched for
"Queens of the Stoneage 3's & 7's" if you wanna listen to it.

Overall it rocks, looking forward to klapping a co-op career mode game.

[edit]
ok, here's the whole song list for those who don't have the game
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_III:_Legends_of_Rock

Edit, also, using the link above, look for "through the fire and flames" by dragonforce
It's the end credits song, break your finger playing that, why don't you. Can't wait to try that on my drum set in Rock Band.
Probably break it on day one.

A few months late:

Went to Slappy's possie last nite and he had just gotten GH3. So we had a try and spent the next many hours getting hammered and playing. Flippin awesome and whats even more awesome is I finally found something I can use my XBox for that a) I am half good at and b) is good fun.

So I went out and bought myself one today and have just spent the last 5 hours playing again....

Wicked wicked wicked game.

Haha, yeah, no game comes close to Guitar Hero in making you feel like a...well... a hero!

Haven't played GH III yet, but I played Guitar Hero: Rock the 80's quite a lot on my colleague's PS2, and it was awesome!
Love that 80's rock, really wish they'd release those specific 80's tracks as DLC for 360 or PS3...

TG
22nd September 2008, 06:51 AM
Yep. This game is awesome... specially when you get together and you have 2 guitar controllers :) Co-op, and even head to head multiplayer is awesome :D
(Only thing is we need to break one or two of Blinky's fingers so that we don't get wiped out all the time :p)

TG
23rd September 2008, 06:20 PM
Have you finished the game on easy yet? :p

Then see if you can complete any songs on easy with 0 notes missed (ie, get gold).

THEN try medium.

senorblinky
23rd September 2008, 06:27 PM
Hehehehehe, you'll see, medium is actually damn easy, genuine.
i've played the unlock song (through the fire and flames) until i perfected it, then started with the medium campaign, and the only, truly difficult part in the medium campaign is slayer's raining blood, and the devil battle at the end, the rest is just fun!

Albereth

SlappY

I started on medium tonite and apart from some lead bits in various songs I actually find it easier than easy. Easy puts me off due to the scarcity of the notes and because I know just about all the songs I find myself hitting notes that arent there. Just finished off the night with Schools Out on medium.

SlappY
24th September 2008, 10:15 AM
I think tongiht I am gonna make a start on medium. Gotta try get my retarded pinky in the mix somehow.

But I agree with Mike, the songs you know you sometimes overplay a note that you know is there but isnt there on easy.

Hehe, so I bought a second-hand XBox 360 arcade this weekend at Rage, and sommer got myself GHIII as well. Great fun! Finished the Easy Career, the first 2 nights, spent the spent 1 night trying to 5 star all the easy songs, and spent last night trying to 5 star Raining Blood (finally got it, what a bitch-ass song! )
Now I'm gonna have to try and get 100% on them all and then move on to medium, can't wait!

Incidentally... the Xbox I bought, is...ahem.. modded with custom firmware, so I'm not going online with it (I'll get myself a 60GB Pro for that later), but, I managed to download a custom version of GHII.
How custom, you ask?
Well, some enterprising soul (bless his kind heart), has been kind enough to rip out all the original tracks from GHII and replace them with the complete track-list from GHI and GH:80s. So now I can play GHI as well as GH:80s on my 360... rock on!
Now I just need to find a PAL version of GHII for sale... but I'm not having much luck here in SA. any suggestions?

*edit* Actually found 2 new places now, will drop them a mail. I would prefer the stand-alone version without the guitar though.

With GH3+ on 360 you can play online as well. If you wait for GH:World Tour, you'll even get drums and singstar as well, although you'll have to mortgage your house for it ....
