After figuring out how to place a sig on my posts (with help from TG) I was feeling rather smart so I decided to try and set up my "avatar" picture. Now instead of doing somthing simple I need to get complicated ( I did say I was feeling smart). What I was wanting to do was capture this particular scene from Toy Story 2 that I like. ( In the beginning of the movie Buzz gets whacked by Zurg and his half torso stands there smouldering for a moment before falling down) So Drusky comes past and puts me on track by telling me that all I have to do is press "prt screen" when I've got what I want before my eyes then paste it into the app that I want to use to edit it.
Simple.

Thats usually where the trouble starts.

I play the movie using Win Media Player. Pause at the right moment. Press Print Screen. Open Adobe Photoshop Elements (came bundled with me camera). Paste and viola there it is. I'm brimming with joy, humming to myself and all. Just need to crop it now so that all I've got is the Buzz torso not the whole scene. Decide to close media player - dont need it anymore. Go back to Adobe and my scene is gone replaced by a shot of media player with a black sceen. "What the...." Start at the beginning figure I need to save the shot in Adobe before closing the player. Done get ma shot. Now try to crop. Select the bit I want and crop. "What the...." The whole thing moves over left and Buzz goes half out of scene. Cant figure this one, Think I'm gonna use something else to edit. Paint or something. Also think i'm not so smart anymore. Oh well fun while it lasted. :)

If anyone knows how to do this in 30 seconds, I'll hail them as very smart especially if they can tell me before I go off and labour at the whole thing from the beginning. If you read this and make me work away at it and then tell me afterwards that you knew all along how to sort it in 30 seconds or less... I'll be forced to hunt you on the battlefield. Of course I might end up being hunted on the battlefield but lets not go there... :p

yeah but be warned the pics usually come out terrible quality.
Go to powerDVD configuration->advanced->snapshot, here you can see your options

I stuck an animated gif in where the avatar should be. It was still... very still. So I gave up and stuck a still image in. Nonetheless don't give up on the Buzz. I eagerly await the result.

Err ... well actually I'm not going for animated here. Still is good very good. Animated can come along later.

Weird. It should support animated avatars.
I'll double check the options.

OMG What a mission somebody please shoot me next time you see me running around. (I'm sure dozens will volunteer. Actually dozen singular... as |WrG| grows it will be dozens :D). How it ended up working. Firstly when I was using the Prt screen button. I got ma image, then into Adobe, crop the image and save.... "what the...". I kept getting the top right hand corner no matter that I had cropped it out. Figured the format was wrong. Tried to save the image into a different format... no difference. In fact I could crop the image and then go back and grap the cropped portion move it around and see the rest of the screen cap. Kinda like looking through a window. So download screencap app. Back to movie. Cap the scene. Back into Adobe and TADA looking at a black image. Search Internet for solution. Search some more. Search... okay okay you get it. Discover that hardware acceleration must be turned off. Go through whole process again. Discover that RB4NB was right in a way PowerDVD gives a better cap than Media Player. Finally Resize and Post Avatar with Drusky's help this AM. Thanks guys. :) Total sleep last night 2.3 hours. Was it worth it? You tell me. :D Now about that animated Avatar story....

Looks good, quick someone shoot him.
TG The avatar doesn't animate perhaps coz it shrunk down a bit? It does animate in user profile pic... but really it doesn't matter.
EDIT: Yup it was the size, this little running man is making me tired, I'm sure he won't last.
