I have downloaded and tested a product called VOIPRaider, which claims to allow free PC -> Landline calls in South Africa.
I tested it by calling myself and one other peep, and it does indeed work, however, my voice is soft and there is this crackling noise ... much like the same problem I have with TeamSpeak.
So ... I woz wondering if anybody would care to give it a shot and provide feedback?

Thank you.
This is verry annoying, finally somebody gives us a break, and we cannot really use it because the volume is sucky.
Now ... I know that WoW VOIP can do 250% volume on my mic ... so ... what's the problem software dudes?
Why is there not even one decent piece of software out there to boost mic volume?
... me goez a huntin

Stoke, you're supposed to be looking for TS alternatives - does this thing have a low bandwidth conferencing ability?

now all we need to do is write a "software modem"... so then i dial person "x", their modem answers, handshakes with my software modem and then are connected to the internet through my adsl

It's berry low bandwidth, but I would not recommend using this product for conferencing because of the volume issues.
It's only for free PC->Voice calls in South Africa where the peep you're calling won't mind listerning berry carefully.

I suspect they use the FREE strategy to get into the market and get people hooked.
It will not last forever, use it before it's gone.

Eek !
So I was busy chatting with one of the guys at work using this program, when suddenly the call ended. Seems I have used up all the free time I am going to get - 13.5 minutes ! :grr:
To make any further calls I now need to buy time .. :(
Oh well - Add/Remove Programs ... goodbye ..

I bought my wife a skype wireless phone for home. So i can chat to her from anywhere. She also sits and chats to her buddies and business contacts that now have skype, all day for free. The phone even work at hot spots. It's saving us hundreds of rands.

I love this "for free" statement. Mmmm, I wonder who pays for your bandwidth?
