Got the game, loaded it up, start playing and the black okes in the game start talking zulu. Not long after that, the local mercs talk afrikaans. I look around and realize that the research was obviosly done here in South-Africa, street signs, small rural towns the works, it's like they created a game just for South-Aficans.
Some screenies.
the taxi driver, quite a comical character.

ok, the post was premature. The graphics in the game gets beter and beter as you play. I mean, the leaves have shadows to name one. I went through an late afternoon bushfelt storm just now and the effects was unbelievable accurate.
PS. I heard one of the mercs just now... "Gaan jy links om, en flank hom, vir hierdie ou gaan ons bliksim."

At least that makes a refreshing change to the Russian and Arabic we always hear in games today... Sadly the humour of it will be lost on most of the Euro and US audience.
Sintax, can you post your specs? Want to know how the game may run on my rig...

The euro and Us audience got enough games to keep them happy
For got to tell you I was a lil hap-hazard chucking grenades all over the place last night and someone started shooting like a machine but in every damn direction. Quickly realised I hit an ammo cache lol.

I bought it, again in a momentary lapse of sanity. Only at the beginning now but I'll say this much:
- The game looks and sounds damn good, not the high-gloss post-card island stuff from Far Cry or Crysis, but well-detailed, real-looking environments. Feels like Africa. The accents of the NPCs are believable and the Afrikaans and other African languages add a nice touch to it.
- The setting is also more pleasant than Far Cry. Not the jacked-up military equipment, instead it's a bit more toned down. You get simple weapons and a ragged car in the beginning.
- Difficulty is manageable so far, the game refrains from throwing hordes of enemies at you like its predecessor. Instead it's more realistic, small camps and groups. Also the AI is a lot more believable, not the Far Cry type where they would spot me at 500m in high grass, but look for me when I was right behind them. Here it's actually possible to scout out a camp and then take the best way in.
I am actually enjoying it so far.

here's another one. They are trying to add a realistic African touch to it. I just got out of a bar and now my bloody car is gone. TIA baby!

In the official FC2 forums, a lot of peeps are whining and moaning because apparently Ubisoft at some point promised destructible environments and some such. Everyone's crying foul over some marketing babble. Here's the thread for your amusement, I posted a few comments there but I won't post anymore, it's not worth my time.

I wonder if it depends on who you use to play with. I.e. that old east block chappie is a mate and he revives me everytime I die. I wonder what happens if I chose him to play :hmmm:

Man I'm such a doofus ... I didnt see you could tab through the purchasables at the PC, so I only saw weapons - no accuracy / reliability upgrades or cool ammo pouches and camo suits :( And I had so many diamonds on me - Wasted 'em all on crappy guns I never use.
I'm loving my sniper rifle :snipe: ... but man those IED's are kief! Plant them ahead of a convoy and everything goes BOOM!
@stoolie, I sure do... I've turned many a landscape into charcoal.
