Haha, bring it on, girlpant!
Unfortunately our old nemesis Punkbuster (http://www.cedega.com/forumsviewtopic.php?t=9699&highlight=punkbuster) rears it's ugly head again. Do a search for PB on those forums to see the rest... ;)
So if you want play with yourself (or even just play BF2 SP ;) ), go ahead and buy a subscription... :D
If you're that desperate to ditch windows, why not install TinyXp to a decent size flashdrive, keep a fat32 partition on yer pc for BF2 and boot up from the flashdrive when you want to play.

I totally get peoples aversion to linux.
Before I was a Linux admin, if I ever saw a skinny, pale looking person who had long hair and was wearing all black clothing then I used to think to myself "hmm I wonder what his favorite linux distro is?"
:D

Im not talking about 'Linux' here as such but rather a Linux based OS like Gentoo.

Windows, unfortunately & to the chagrin of many here, is the reason home-user computing has progressed at the rate that it did. Without ol' Bill Gates & his nefarious means of building the Microsoft Empire, we'd probably be getting held ransom by the likes of Sony, Nintendo & Sega.
Microsoft is solely responsible for the massive uptake of computing on the domestic scene. If it were up to Linux we'd still be pulling out our hair. Progress demands investment - Microsoft secured the means to ensure this progress. Unfortunately Linux has been largely a hobbyist undertaking, with no promise of monetary reward to it's contributors.
It's all very well to diss Microsoft for its success, and promote Linux, but when you consider that everyone needs to earn a living to feed themselves and their families, which of the two is going to receive more attention? Microsoft employees get paid fulltime for the work they do, whereas Linux contributors have other jobs where they get paid full time for the work they do. Their Linux work isn't going to be paying any bills, generally.
Oh, yeah, sure - everything should be free, but it aint! Deal with it & move on.

Yum, I love tasty tangy lemon marinade on my fiancee! :hyper:
(It just takes a strong stomach to lick a convicted leper though, even when covered with marinade) ;)

Im quite aware of all this Gaskannetjie. I do however feel like a change and I do also believe MS is not quite keeping up with the times. For example I wiped Vista Businessoff my new laptop and put XP pro on. Considering I used to always be the one kakking on people for using Win95 until 2002 & Win2000 till 2005. I am tired of reinstalling my OS every few months and I dont like the way Windows seems to be heading in the future. I have three PCs (one desktop and 2 laptops) and I am wanting to keep Windows XP on the new laptop which I bought the other day as I need it for all my engineering and survey software to work. I will def be putting a linux disto on the old laptop and maybe one day on the desktop too.

Ill deal with you soon enough...

I type this now from my fresh installation of Ubuntu 8.10 which I have just completed with the utmost of ease onto my old laptop. Everything works out the box to to speak! Wireless networking.bluetooth and the best part is the laptop that was slow under XP is now a dream under Ubuntu. MO MORE BLOAT!
