Okay so my brother just sent this to me:
Zambezi shark, hooked 2km up the Breede river. It then towed the boat(which was pretty big) another 2.5km up the river, yes thats 4.5km people keep up!
They then satellite tagged it etc. In the 48 hours after the catch it was only out of the river for 1 hour the rest of the time it spent lurking around there....
Oh and if you were wondering it was 4m and between 550-600KG!!!!

Did they tag him & put him back in the ocean, or did they let him die?

I somehow cannot imagine them going to all the hassle of tagging the shark and then letting him die.

Sorry, nitty but im with Stokey on this one!
It was a team of researchers looking for a zambezi to tag, they didnt expect this!
Read my post again and you will see they tracked it for 48 hours after the catch and it was still in the river for 47 of them! :p
I forgot to mention that its the largest recorded catch of a zambezi.

We are currently loosing about 100 million sharks per year to the stupid fishing industries and inconsiderate people. It is good to see some people trying to understand these awesome creatures.
But that is not a small shark! That will be one of those that will help you understand why they call a wetsuit a "WETsuit"

Dude, I see that beast face-to-face and it'll be called a solidsuit! That Black Tip I saw in Moz was like a guppy in comparison and that was 2m long.

I'm sad that I missed out on the previous Mozambique tour with the geeks.
We're all busy training for the surfers/swim/cycle race/triathlon again like we did last year (anyone remember the speedophiles pic? :psycho: )
But after that I'm keen to do my open water course.

I have a mate here who offers the PADI diving courses @ R1.5k so it's not too horribly bad. He regularly takes okes out to a dive spot called 3-sisters to lurk with raggies.

Hey hey, I don't play WOW so don't come with that doll nonsense to me :D Just kidding folks, I know I can't judge all WOW players by Voiceh and the fact that he wears a purple scarf to "get in character" when online with WOW.
Here's an article kinda related to the shark story even if it's just the fact that the fish dragged something around. In this case a spear fisherman speared a 200+kg marlin... heh.

Not true, shot a nice spotted grunter the last time (cooked it, ate it), and lost a garrick because of a poor stomach shot. I will admit its my first legal size fish but its a sign of things to come. Me mates (britneyboy) mate has a boat that they go out on now, so I'll be getting much fishes in the future.
That and someone will take me to bats cave to jump off a rock next time or else

Hossie you must come down here sometime oke we will throw stink off the ledge at bats cave!
Nice to know you are getting fish, normally(when we actually know you are in EL) you talk about bad vis and seeing nothing.
stinky, have you lads ever tasted marlin or sailfish? They are freaking awesome! very strange texture and flavour for fish but absoutely fantastic eating.
I disagree with people catching marlin and keeping them but when you spear a fish you arent exactly looking to put it back afterwards!

Spoze it depends on the damage caused by the spear.

Remember, i said spear guns, not thumbs :D
