Upcoming DLC (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=208264)in March it seems :

The Pitt consists of a large 'dungeon' area, an abandoned steel yard, as well as a settlement divided into two halves; Downtown, occupied by slaves, and Haven occupied by their masters.

For the first time players will be able to interact with Raiders other than by fighting them, says the mag, and one major quest has you taking on the role of a slave, investigating rumours that the Raider boss has found a cure for mutation.

Side quests and unique items are promised, naturally, including the fearsome-looking Auto Axe, which a bit like a chainsaw crossed with a Black & Decker hedge trimmer.

So its out... but also buggy :

The second piece of Fallout 3 downloadable content has been released with little fanfare, perhaps due to the addon's extreme buginess, as evidenced by the multiple user help threads on the official Bethesda forums.

The problems appear to be especially prevalent on the Xbox 360, but if you still want to purchase the 800 Microsoft Point addon, click here. Windows users should load up the Microsoft Marketplace application to acquire the 336MB download.

So who's going to try it? :)

I am not buying any more DLC until I know it's value for money. That was not the case for both Knothole Island and the first Fallout 3 DLC.

The DLC has been removed from the X360 downloads and is being patched up. What a bugger up. :p

Bethesda is working on a fix for The Pitt downloadable content for the Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3, which went live today to widespread complaints about crashes and bugs.

"Hang in there guys. We're looking into the issue," writes community manager Gstaff on the official forum. "If I have any specific questions for you guys, I'll shoot you a PM."

The post was made in response to hordes of fans complaining that their post-apocalyptic horizons are awash with giant floating exclamation marks, trees, rubbish and buildings. Game freezes are said to be common occurrences, too. The internet has helpfully posted a video of the bugs on YouTube.

The problem appears to be highlighted by the download size: Xbox Live Marketplace hosts a 492.21MB file whereas successful PC downloads are around 682MB. Even Xbox Live community boss Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has rolled up his sleeves and emailed Bethesda to see what the problem is.

Meanwhile, angry customers who dished out 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60) for the exclusive content brandish pitchforks and ask how such a build can possibly clear Microsoft certification.

UPDATE: Bethesda has issued the following statement: "We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly."

Its been fixed :

Fallout 3: The Pitt is now once again available to purchase on Xbox Live following yesterday's snafu. However, if you already installed you'll have to jump through several hoops to upgrade to a fully functional copy:

The Pitt is has returned to the service! If you purchased and downloaded The Pitt yesterday, you’ll need to delete that version from your storage device before you download the new version. Here is an official support document that outlines what you’ll need to do to to delete the old version, but the basic steps are as follows:

# Sign in to Xbox LIVE then press the guide button
# Go to Settings->System Settings->Memory.
# From here, scroll down to Fall Out 3 and press A.
# Select Fallout 3: The Pitt (Marketplace Content) press A then choose Delete, then Yes to Delete.

Now, you can go and re-download the new version for no charge and begin your adventure. Remember, any content you purchased (like The Pitt) can be re-downloaded at no charge.

Also, don’t delete anything that says ‘Autosave.’ That would be bad.

Opinions after this debacle please?
