Site changes 18032009

Apart from having a minor security update applied, the following is new / has changed:

You cannot hotlink to attachments from external sites anymore. You will either be prompted to login or will be given a link to the original post where the attachment can be viewed.

Double-posting will be handled in a slightly different manner. If you post twice in a row in a thread within a two hour period, your last post will be automatically merged with your previous post, and the entries will be separated by a timestamp header. I'm not sure if this will handle an accidental dupe post, will have to see (Nya nya post whores!).

Slightly Enhanced PM System - your new pm notice at the top right should blink red now, and most notably, when you receive a PM as one of multiple recipients, there is now a REPLY TO ALL function.

Forum Stats - Currently located just above the 'What's Going On?' box on the forum home page. If you click the arrows on a stat header, you can change the displayed stat.

New email verification system - Only really affects new registrations or when you update your email address on your profile. You are now required to verify your email address BEFORE you're shown the registration page. :p
You'll get the same deal when you update your email addy in your profile.
This is mainly used to deter spambots, since they can easily break captcha systems now.

I will also be installing and testing a new chatbox system a bit later. It will co-exist with the old one so we can test it out without completely losing the old one. :)

I think everything sounds grand except the 2 hour between posts ina thread thing. That might want to be made less but I suppose we can see how it works.

The time for double posts can be changed. 2 hours is the default. I was thinking more like 60 mins, but let's see how it goes for now.

Perhaps we should insist on there being only 1 theme, WrG Blue.
Udderwize the colour assignments are going to be borked to all heck in te chat-room.
e.g. Flattie choosing yellow as his chat colour simply does not work on the Default colour scheme.

The 'Get New Posts' on the welcome panel was slightly broken. It was ignoring forum exclusions. I have now fixed it.

If you go cloddering into the Full Chatbox you cannot clicky on linky to go back into little chatbox mode. Unless I missed it... somehow.... I got around it by clicking on UserCP and from there you can click on 'Wargeeks Clan' to get the forum again. Small... but then it kept me amused for 10 minutes. :)
