How's this for a military story. Whilst playing paintball this weekend I got shot in the nuts. Yes. The nuts. Got hit square in the balls. And yes. It was bloody painful

My uncle always used to tell me bout his 32 days. Very interesting how they were indoctrinated against the "Rooi Gevaar", the Commies.

Paintballs should avoid your balls if they know what's good for them.
I had a mate in high school that applied to be a royal marine in 1996. By the end of 1999, they finally did all the necessary background checks, security checks, personality tests et al, and he was invited on a two week interview course, to see if he had what it take to become a Royal Marine.
76 people were invited to the "interview" course, after those two weeks, only 14 people were left standing (IE, didn't quit / wasn't thrown out), and i think one oke actually got sent home after falling four stories and cracking his skull open. My mate was one of the 14 that made it.
He worked his way up the ranks - the end goal obviously being to become a member of the 22nd Special Air Service. Last i heard he had command of his own task force in Scotland, but seeing that THAT'S the nature of his job, if he was ever SAS, we would never find out - perhaps one day, when he's in his 70s and decides to write an autobiography.
Mind you, whenever i see an autobiography in a bookstore, i just turn to the "about the Author" section and read that. Done! Next?

Last weekend I got lost in the mountains behind Kareedouw and wandered onto this really beautiful farm called Nooit Gedacht. I thought it would be cool to stay there sometime so I googled the farm. Ended up with some surprisingly interesting reading from this site:

In the afternoon I was taken to a separate facility where I sat a series of mental and psychological tests which ended with a series of face-to-face interviews with three psychiatrists. The last two give me pleasure to this day. The first was conducted by an extremely attractive blonde, about whom I had several erotic fantasies during our interview. As her questions drew to a close she asked me: 'Have you ever shot anyone?'
'Yes,' I answered.
'Afterwards, what was the first thought that went through your mind?'
'What a good shot I am,' I said.
She noted my reply and then looked at me over her large spectacles. 'Did you see the person you had shot close up?'
'Yes,' I replied.
She fixed me with what she no doubt thought was an intimidating stare. She looked enchanting. 'What went through your mind then?'
I gazed into her lovely blue eyes. 'I thought to myself,' I replied softly, 'what a bloody good shot I am.' For just the briefest of seconds I got a smile and then she rose and walked out of my life forever...

This has a little rough (military grade) language. Green Leader was Sqd. Ldr Chris Dixon of the Rh.AF and the flights originated from New Sarum Airbase where my uncle was the SWO (Station Warrant Officer) which is like the RSM.
This was pwnage of an intense kind. Basically your airspace is ours so don't bother trying to use it!
