So been looking at this game and got some questions about it?
1. Is it like WoW (don't play it but seen more game play video than GW) how is it different?
2. Which version do u guys play vannila GW or factions
3. I i decide to do GW should i get both the original GW and factions or just factions and why?
4. Is it like WoW where we need 40 guys to go kill stuff or does it scale so u can still do stuff and get good stuff if u have smaller groups?

Well the only thing that is the same is that they are both online games :)
GW's is well a unique thing and very hard to explain.
In WoW you grind to get anywhere, hours upon hours of grinding to get to a place where you can play with the rest of the people in your guild, in GW's the max level is 20 and you can get there in a day or so.
2. Which version do u guys play vannila GW or factions
I personally play both.
3. I i decide to do GW should i get both the original GW and factions or just factions and why?
If you want to try it out i would suggest you get the original first see if you like it and then IF you like it get the new one.
The benifits to getting both is that you have loads of options. where as if you got only one you would lack certain options. But having said that there are som many things to do in one or the other
4. Is it like WoW where we need 40 guys to go kill stuff or does it scale so u can still do stuff and get good stuff if u have smaller groups?
IMO i do better ALONE than with a 8 person group.
The max amount of people is 12 per group so in that aspect it is way way diff from WoW.
If you need more info drop us a line we will try to answer the questions :)

As in all online games, there are area's that you can only access when you are max level, Also the story is a big part of it.
But having said that, for me it is the challenge of soloing everything.
I am about 70% done in that quest ...
got a few more places i cant really get builds for.
Incase you didnt know, GW's only allows you to take 8 skills with you at any time and only allows you to change those when you are in a town.
So you have to pick the right skills to take with you

And another thing is, the whole game is "instanced" unlike WOW wich is "open-ended". What this mean is that when you go out of a town or on a mission, you and your party receive your own instanced area, so you can only see your party, not other people. In WoW everyone can see everyone and this leads to kill stealing, ganking and grieving.

So what keeps u going in the game... cuz like oblivian if i get to a max level and find the best items, i then get over the game. How is this different besides it being multiplayer?

Yeah but the chances of use winning vs some asian guys that play 24/7 aren't so great.
Sorr i just like the systems like Diablo 2 and WoW. Just makes it last longer.

So,
Wow is about time spent not skill
Now i know loads will disagree with me
But in Gw's your skill counts for 80% of the wins not time played.
And team work counts for 99% of the rest
the remaining 1% is equipment.
Now in Wow you have to get UBER equipment to be competative. in Wow everyone gets the same gear. its HOW you use it that counts.

GW has a fair bit of Diablo 2 feel, given that some of the Diablo 2 developers worked on Guild Wars as well.

To me GW right now is a massive Co-Op game experience. I haven't even touched the PvP part yet because I am busy with the campaigns. It is honestly slightly inconceivable to me how people can already be finished with the Factions campaign two weeks after release, but that is a matter of time spent. I am just not the kind of hardcore player who can spend several hours every night farming, leveling and skilling. That is the reason why I chose Guild Wars, you don't really grieve if you can't get roudn to playing for a while. In WoW, as I understand it, that throws you back quite a bit.
As far as I can tell, WoW is a massive timesink. The time you spend playing counts for everything, and it seems to be the general attitude that the more time you spend, the better rewards, equipment etc. you deserve. GW is different, you have a level cap at 20 for PvE characters, and PvP characters are created with Lvl20 already. I am however not the person to ask about PvP, see above, so I am not even going to pretend I know how it works.
I will subscribe to the fact that in GW, skill counts far more than hours played. It is also fairly easy for everyone to get into the game if you have a slight affinity to RPGs. Everyone can build up the necessary skills and get a good character to prevail in the game. And wether you play 1 hour a day or 5 hours a week or 5 hours every night generally counts for nothing in the game.

Oh and in my box i got like a little code for bonus items. Whats that about.
Ruslan74
23rd May 2006, 02:51 PM
the little code you need to ADD to your existing GW account once you install the game.
when you are in the game and in a town the bonus items should be available in your stash or type /preorder at the chat screen to force them to appear.
they are a weapon each for the Assassin and Ritualist class. ;)
unless i am now wondering why you would get bonus items in the "original" game? huh?

@SSS - clothes with better armor or better looking? various merchants outside of towns sometimes sell different looking items of clothing with slightly less armor.
@Scooby Doo - funny, i didnt get that option on my original...

You get in to it fairly quickly.
I've NEVER liked rpgs at all until I played this game. The multiplayer / community aspect is what makes it for me (and the fact that you don't have to pay subscription fees!).
