View Full Version : New guild name

Hey all... so those of us left surviving and still able to stand after all of this need to call ourselves something. Whats it going to be... how about we get a bunch of suggestions posted here and then vote on it.
My recommendation is "Carpe Carpum" ... Latin for "Seize the fish".
I also vote we discuss a constitution for our guild so we dont lose everything again and try not repeat the past.
Lets have those suggestions!
Shotgun first post.
I would prefer this to be a non-serious guild where friends hang out, get drunk and talk about the fun we had over the weekend. For more seriaas play the other guild is your best option. Though, thats just my opinion.

I kinda like Warsong Rebel Guard - I think it was hossy's idea. I cant remember who posted it. Whoever it was - Its kief! It sounds like a guild of extreme poonage. So thats my vote.
As for the seriousness of the guild, i think lets leave that to individuals or groups of people within it. I like to play the game at my own pace. I also love raiding and all the challenges that have come with it. The game really took a good turn for me when i started being included into raids. I got gear, i understood rotation and i learnt about proper team work. I think a balance is what is needed and everyone just respecting everyone else's particular play style. For example:
If you are a hardcore player "WELCOME TO OUR NEW GUILD, WE LOVE YOU!"
If you are a non serious player "WELCOME TO OUR NEW GUILD, WE LOVE YOU!"
This is just my opinion. Use it, dont use it.

 Thank for taking the lead on this one Wizzie.
Erm, i have a couple of suggestion, but i don't feel particularly emotional about any of them - we are about the fun and we are all laid back and rustig and leveling here and raiding there, there's no pressure there, so i thought the name should at least be a bit fun.
"Semper in excretum est sed alta variat"
"The Orphans of Azeroth"
"The Drunken Stupors"
"Hungover"
"Fallen Might"
"The Horde" (and them we make a horde guild and name it "The Alliance" ... just me? ok... )
"Illegitimate Sons of Hodir" (this is my favourite, probably because i thunked it up myself :D )
"The Ankle biters" (If we were all gnomes)
"Gnome Fury" (If we were all gnomes)
"Gnomeland security" (If we were all gnomes)
"Sonskyn en Rose"
"Redemption"
"The Booty Bay Connection"
"Fragile"
"Front towards enemy"
"Happy Tree friends" (If we were all night elves)
"Friends"
"Still Standing"
"Bunny Huggers"
"Preventers of the Cataclysm"
"Survivors of the First Cataclysm"
"Search Party"
I dunno, i'll keep thinking, i like some of these names, but perhaps they spark something in you guys

I do believe that the Warsong Rebel Guard first originated in the fertile manure patch of Ga55ie's peanut. It was the time that TG got reported for [-]Haxx[/-] the WarGeeks guild name.

lol, what a way of expressing yourself, Ga55ie's fertile peanut, classic.
Anyhoozer, i like Hoss's suggestion of something in afrikaans. But it's very close to dutch, so we need to be creative like that.
AFK and DND are excellent suggestions, stuff i would vote for  but it won't fly on an RP realm unfortunately.
Some more ideas:
"Hartebeespoort dam is 'n lekker dam"
"Kinders by dosyne"
"Jou Lang Antie se gat man"
"Ustica" Pronounced: "USE-tah-ka"
Usage: "Can you dance? We'll I Ustica... Gimme a minute and i might could again!" ( oh, i've lost it now)
"Widgadidga" Pronounced: "Wuh-dja-duh-dja"
Usage: "You didn't bring your truck widgadidga?"

I think we should maybe get a bit serious and attach some guidelines to the naming so we can get things up and going before cataclysm comes out ;)
Maybe put down a general guideline to the philosophy of the guild (we all pretty much know its about having fun; a light bit of raiding etc etc etc) which we should attempt to capture in its new name
Possibly have everyone come up with the one (or two) name(s) they think will rock, give a deadline for those submissions and then put it up for a vote

Ok here goes, i cant edit this thread or create a poll in it but we'll cross that bridge and make Blinky do it if we get there.
This is my proposal:
By Sunday (4 Oct 2009) make it 18:00 we must have all the nominated names in. I would like to suggest that we should each come up with two names. We must put these in a very specific order of preference so that if the situation occurs that a hundred names are given that only the first choice from each nominee is entered into the vote, so as to ensure that the poll doesn't crash this site or something. This give the chaps a weekend to mull over things and come up with that awesome name that they will give to their first born if it is not voted for here.
Talking about voting I suggest 48 hours, that is all votes in by Tuesday (6 Oct 2009) at 18:00 hours. Can the poll's allow a single person to place, say 3 votes? If so please.
Please keep in mind the RP rules, so no :Real World References; Contain "Leet" or "Dudespeak"; or Immersion breaking titles. Look here if you are unsure (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/policy/namingp1.html)
Also keep in mind the reason why we are still in this guild. Why we haven't moved to the serious raiding unit, and why we still consider ourselves Wargeeks. We are a light hearted group of peeps (most of the time), who are always willing to help others and usually playing with a smile on our faces, and playing for the fun of it. Lets try have this name be a reflection of ourselves and our values. Lets stay away from references to the break up, as I don't see how that reflects our attempt at a fresh start.
Hows them apples Blinky? What do you all think?

My choices (for now):

<War Torn>
Everyone wants a cool name, and cool is either edgy or funny or a bit of both. I agree, the name should at least hint it being non-serious/fun. <War Torn> is perhaps too edgy, but sometimes, edgy names are cool.

Read Hoss's post
Everyone nominate TWO names, and put your FAVOURITE of the two at the top.
Or name 60 if you're keen, but put your two favourite at the top.
That way, if someone else comes along, see something cool in your number 3 through 60, they can choose one or two of those to add to THEIR top two nominations.
As per Hoss's instruction, the poll will consist of ONLY every nominees top two, and will go live on sunday afternoon at 18:00.

Coop: Why didn't you say so? Phat beats, Armageddon on the streets, we're inundated with the sh#t man. If we had any more hardcore we'd get arrested ya know what I mean?
Customer: Yeah, Hait.
Coop: This was recorded by a posse of crackheads on death row, right, so all them little interludes to prison noises, and that, they're for real. They call themselves "The Itchy Trigger-Finger Niggers"
Customer: The itchy what?
Coop: "The Itchy Trigger-Finger Niggers"
I'll never understand how it's PC for them to call themselves that, and not us? But, that's just me, I guess - I suppose it's about what context you use the word in. If I had to call "Ron-The-Bomb" that, he'd probably flatten me.

so when do you decide?
too much of draggin on!
...and your point is? This the WrG we're talking about - procrastination is what it's about. Never a decision made in haste, and all that :D

Its a 48 hour voting process, so results are confirmed at 18:00 today, no procrastination at all

I trust that we have an independent body verifying the authenticity of the results, seeing as there seem to be allegations of rigging, what with the excess ballots cast 'n all :gyes:

This is not the WrG guild anymore, TG has gracefully offered to host these forums for us. So yeah, we can take as long as we want :p
But ja, the poll will close at 18:00 tonight, along with the guild leader poll. And tomorrow, the old WrG guild will effectively be /gdisbanded and we will all be in this shiny new one.

No, I was wondering:
- Do you need to to kick all players from the guild before disbanding
- or if you as guild leader disband, then the guild falls away
- or if you disband, then whoever is still in the guild becomes the guild leader/officer etc.
Thinking about it now, if it doesn't auto disband, then it's really not a big process to kick all players 1st and then disband.

No-one needs to GQuit. Once the Guild leader disbands the guild all the members are automatically no longer members of a guild.
I speak from experience in that I logged on once to find that my guild had disappeared. I was very confused.
This said I am still weighing my options, whether to move all my toons to one new guild or to split them between two guilds.
Maybe I should hold auditions.
