Hey Guys,

since this is the first time for me to be able to get some feedback from a broader group, I'd like to ask you to tell me how you experience the performance of my server, which is currently hosting the WrG site. Tell me your experience about response time, loading times, lags, outages etc. Your feedback is much appreciated :D

Pretty quick for me.

Hmmm - I'll take a chance : Replying to the question "How fast is my server?" is a bit like when your wife asks "honey, do I look fat in this?" :D

For me, a bit slower than previously - still getting a few timeouts ...

Hey, I am not your wife. ;) I experienced the same thing just about an hour ago. Until then and now again it works fine for me though.

When I do my catchup thing in FireFox I get the unread posts then middle-click on all of them so that they open in new tabs.

On your site every second tab gets a connection reset.
On TG's site every second tab gets a connection reset.

Otherwise ... I find it much faster than TG's site.
i.e. For me it's the same only better.

I also thought it was slightly faster, until the hickup this evening.

I am not entirely sure, but I think that is because Apache can only handle so many requests at the same time, since the number of child processes it is allowed to spawn is limited...

Don't take it for gospel though... But I thunk there is a reason bigger sites run mirrors and load balancers...

You can boost the number of start servers and min spare servers, it might be too low.

It has been great for me... of course just having the site up is AWESOME for me (with or without lag).... the only prob I had was that when I tried to reply to a couple of PM's.... when I would say send it would time out.... but eventually it did go through...And today (Saturday)... it is running just FINE!! ... So as for me I'm a happy little Nut!! :p

:woot: THANK YOU TO ALL SERVER PROVIDERS :woot:

The other day it was slow as hell and giving timeouts etc but lately it is flying.

rainy
28th May 2006, 07:03 PM
That may be due to congestion on the provider's side. I've had that a few times that the server's websites were unreachable, but the server itself and all processes were doing fine.

Okay, let me revive this thread. Any issues with the site, please post them here and I will look into it.

Shoutbox is still a little odd where the posts don't go through, then the next message gets the 'Posting' messagebox. You also have to manually refresh it sometimes - dunno where the problem lies.

Apart from that it's about 123.5% better! :D

rainy
26th April 2007, 11:10 AM
Vortex, that might be connection-related. I haven't had any shoutbox problems today.

Vortex

Yeah, it could be indeed - my connection at work goes up and down like a jack-inna-box

Bass

Yup - mine 3 ...

Looking good so far, I must say !! :D

It's freaking AWESOME!
Somebody please sort out IBurst ... they keep restoring the DNS entries or something just as daft.

rainy
26th April 2007, 02:58 PM
DNS has been moved as well. Might take one or two days to kick in properly.

TG
26th April 2007, 03:01 PM
I've moved the primary DNS over to rainy now too, so that should solve THAT problem. It may be erratic for a day or two.

So now wargeeks.org points to bitch, and www.wargeeks.org works.
WTH?

rainy
28th April 2007, 11:07 AM
We'll fix it in the mix.

TG

The site URL is www.wargeeks.org, not wargeeks.org

rainy

Either way it is working now.
