I'm busy testing out the new vbulletin v4 publishing suite.
It's VERY different from what is here currently. The site now opens on a CMS rather than directly on the forums, there are user blogs available, the default style has completely changed.
I essentially took a copy of the forums as it is today, and upgraded it to the new software. I've had to disable all of the third party functionality that used to exist for now (embedded videos, the /me processing, obfuscated email addies etc). I'll go through it at some stage and see what still works on the new software, and what is still actually needed.
I let the updater install some "default" CMS data, so there are all sorts of weird articles loaded.
If you'd like to take a look at the new site, please PM me for an access username and password (Test site is hidden behind an authentication wall). You'll be able to log in to the publishing software using your current forum account.
I'm looking for people to write some articles. Maybe think of some categories and/or sections for the articles to go in to. I'll probably allow clan members to add articles etc.
Feel free to mess around with the blog facility as well.
Just bear in mind that it is a test site, so don't go creating any masterpieces without saving a copy to your local machine so you can re-create it later if necessary (later being when the software goes live on the main site).
I'm also looking for someone(s) to create some new colour schemes. Do this by taking a screen shot of the site, and then changing the colours of the screen elements in a photo editor. I'll then create the schemes as site templates.
There will be NO layout changes or major graphics changes, apart from the actual site logo.
You can post and go crazy in the forums... just bear in mind, nobody is going to see it. If you want to discuss the new site, use this thread, or create a new one in one of the other forums.
PS:
There MAY be cookie conflicts between the test site and the live site. You may experience things like being logged out of one site while you're logged into the other one, or just not being able to login to the test site at all (just returns you back to an unlogged-in state). Just close and re-open your browser.
