ADDITIONAL: There is a major power failure in Abidjan Nigeria affecting all the SAT-3 Links. Only international circuits are being affected and is related to the Telkom maintenance carried out on the SAT-3.


POINTS OF IMPACT:
National & International

OPENING TIME: 2 Feb 2010 8:42:53 AM
CAUSE OF PROBLEM: International Circuits Down SYMPTOMS EXPERIENCED: Loss of connectivity
SEVERITY: Critical
STATUS: Attending
ATTENDING: MTN Engineers
ADDITIONAL: Please note we have a critical outage in the network as most local and international links are down. Telkom and MTN Business engineers are busy investigating the cause.

ADDITIONAL: MTN Business has rerouted all SAT-3 traffic via Seacom STM4.
We will however experience degraded performance as the link is fully utilized. Telkom will commence restoration of the SAT3 circuits at 09:50AM

Interesting that they are also using Seacom.
I wonder what ever happened to SAFE?!?!
That was always telscums big selling point that they had an awesome redundant solution...
