The Beta 2 is available to download legally here : http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx

Downloaded it lastnight and I must say I am quite impressed, completely new menu system which is great after some practice. Took a screenshot for you all :

Even though it is a beta I havent found any bugs yet.
Might want to check it out.

does the Beta 2 have the same memory hog leaks like Beta 1? our tutor at one of the MS courses had the Powerpoint from Office 2007 beta and it was like chewing over 500MB of his RAM... so opening anything else on his PC was a no no... :p

Openoffice 2 for me is fine, i dont need 1GB of Office stuff cramping my home PC. Besides, i dont really do much Excel and Word at home anyhow.

I've been using this version of office for about 3 days and apart from yesterday when my Outlook bombed out 3 times and restarted itself, it have been pretty stable so for for a Beta package.

Anyway, even if it's a piece of shite, it LOOKS cool...:D

I always liked Office. There is no Email program that comes up to par with Outlook, as far as handling and comfort goes. Evolution could do the trick, but when are they finally going to port it to Windows?

I have tried Star Office and Open Office and the likes, and I just don't warm up to them...

I started running 2007 on Tuesday when I couldn't activate my company version of 2003 ;) It's really sweet and has some neat new features. It's the first version of office since '97 that actually looks like more than just a new skin on an old cat.

I may even do the honorable thing and buy it when it comes out . . :p

I installed the Beta 2 yesterday from the CD of a German IT Magazine I am subscribed to. Unfortunately it's the German version, but it's ok for a quick peek. Looks really neat, although not much seems to have changed in Outlook. Gonna go more in-depth one of these days.

When it (and Vista) come out, I want to get the MSAP...

for home Open office is more than good enough for me. I hardly use it and I don't use the 2/3 expert extras that office has anyway at work....

I used to be all viva OSS viva!!! But after actually having to make platform & development decisions on behalf of a particularly large company, you begin to respect MS in the enterprise.

They do have evil tendencies, but I think, especially in the last 2/3 years, they've opened up and are trying to do what they see as best for everyone. But without killing hteir bottome line. We can thank OSS for that :)

From the screenie it looks very nice... But have to stick to 2003 can't send off work in 2007, they wouldn't be able to open it. (UNISA)

I have been having some definite stability issues while using Outlook 2007. Autopreview just stops working at times and Outlook bombs and restarts itself at least 3 times a day...

Well, I hope they fix this before they release it...Beta is an excuse for now

Reading a beta preview it seems that for now they concentrated on the other programs, i.e. Word, Excel and stuff. Outlook still has a lot of issues and is so far the problem that changed the least...
