Found this neat little configurator mentioned on SGS.

Yeah I saw that, not sure if im going to use it though. Seems a little like cheating to me by removing settings that arent in the game menu's to do so.

No, it's simply made the game a bit more playable at a slightly higher resolution.

All the effects are still there.. still get blinded by smoke, sun glare and the what not. Just looks a bit grittier. Essentially I've set everything on low, increased the view distance, and voila.

When I loaded the game it defaults to 1024 x 768 medium settings & still looked stunning. Then I thought, "Buggrit, I've got a GTX285 why am I not running it on max settings?" I changed everything as high as possible and it runs as smooth as a whistle.

I found this on the Grrr forums. The ping thing works nicely for me: lowered my ping by about 30ms.

WIN 7 PING SPIKE FIX

* Open regedit
* Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
* There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
* Reboot

I also applied the tweak settings and my game runs so much smoother. :woot:

FWIW, I run at a horizontal fov of 120.

I can't even access the site. It just says site not found.

Very weird. When I do a nslookup, it resolves to 127.0.0.1 :confused:

Yeah, the link in the OP appears to no longer be functioning.

FWIW, I run at a horizontal fov of 120.

Really? thats awesome considering the game only lets you set the vertical FOV :p :p :p

Duuhhhh uhh... that's why I specified what my (calculated) HORIZONTAL fov is, moffy.

If I just said my vertical fov is 96, it means nothing, as it is dependant on what my resolution is.

Original post with other tweaks here (http://gamers-underground.com/action-fps/32463-bad-company-2-tweaks.html) (we have done most of these). I changed my ping settings to 75 & actually noticed I was hitting a lot more often. Perhaps it's psychological but it's been making me a grumpy Teddy bear.

To improve hit registration:

Are you tired of shooting people in Bad Company 2 but they don't take any damage? So was I. One poster on Gamefaqs (spank_thru101) posted a possible solution to the problem so I decided to test it out. Upon further investigation, this was also something you could edit in previous battlefield games.

Basically, add these two lines;

SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.0450000
SettingsManager.U32Set GSInterpolationTime 45

to your gamesettings.ini and settings.ini file in the BFBC2 folder.
In gamesettings.ini, add them between the lines;

IntroPlayed=1
[GstPersistence]

In settings.ini, just add it to the end of the list. Save both files.

BEFORE YOU TRY THIS, change the value to your general server ping. For me, when I refresh the list, most servers are 31-45 ping. So, I change the values to .045 and 45 for 45 ping.

Say most of your servers are 73 ping, you'll want to change the values at the end of the previously stated changes to .073 and 73 respectively.

Apparently the battlefield series tries to compensate for an average of 100ms ping by default and so the hitboxes appear to "lag behind" the actual player model you're seeing in game. This fix changes it so that the models are where the hitboxes actually are by adjusting to your average ping instead.

EDIT: after sucking all night I changed these settings & managed an Ace pin with IB Hackem & his cronies on the other side :D

What if most of my servers show a 999 ping in the server list?

I just took my normal ingame ping & halved it. I think that dude is not including the roundtrip (as per TG) that we see ingame. I honestly seemed better at hitting the target - whether this is the placebo effect or not I don't know. I sniped for a bit & I was definitely better at getting headshots - I just stuck my head up, aimed, clicked & BAM, headshot, duck again.
