This will go down as the patch I hate the most. I have a vanilla install of Bf2, with full patch to 1.3. Ill reboot my pc, jam a little online, then all of a sudden ill get kicked off with the error:
"you are not allowed modified content" or something similar. Now, erm, Ive NEVER even put a basic BF2 mod on, I havent even loaded a new map or anything.
This is freeken annoying :/

did you clear out the contents of BF2 under your MY DOCUMENTS folder?
i applied the incremental patch and on Friday evening i got a BSOD for the first time ever in my XP's windows installation. Nothing after that though... yikes!

Only thing that annoyed me about the patch so far was that it reset the GFX settings. Probably also the sound settings, but I haven't checked that yet...

Since you're having GW problems too, sounds like it may be more than the patch. :p

I have to say that I haven't had any problems with the patch....any one of them...I've always used the incremental.
I have a friend at work who stopped playing because the game simply wouldn't work since the first patch and no subsequent patch ever fixed it.
Seems BF2 is pretty particular about the machine its played on.Maybe its anti-Intel...that would actually be pretty funny ;)

Dunno, i think i corrupted the GW.DAT file coz i closed GW during an update on Saturday. But other games like GRAW and Rise of Legends run fine and they are real demanding on your hardware.
I think i will try to obtain the full 1.3 patch and re-install BF2. Since i am on ISDN having a game BSOD the PC requires me to pay for each re-connect. Bummer.

Okay, Ive been looking for something to push me over the edge now for a while, and this was kinda it. Im not going to install BF2 YET again, Im just to tired of watching that painful install over and over again.
So, Im going to try something even more painful... which is going to be the topic of the next thread I start.

Well, last night i run BF2 online and voila rebooted twice. So in frustration i run a windows update and played single player BF2 for over 1 hour. No reboot so i hope after a few more tests tonight and possibly a full BF2 re-install with the FULL 1.3 patch i can sort this irritating issue out.

Wizard .. your error should be because your Punkbuster is not auto-updating fast enough.
Do a manual punkbuster update.
... erm ... i've also erd that punkbuster is playing the genuine windows game ...
