Green Item Farming Expedition

I am on a course this week so I will be scarce until NEXT weekend...

PLease post here if you are keen to join us - a requirement is that you have ascended - i.e. so you can access the correct area.,

Also state if you are noob at this like me or are a non-noob joining to help us noobs :)

Sorrow's Furnace. It is in the southern shiverpeaks, north of Droknar's Forge. It is the original source of green items and was added as an addon to Guildwars in about September/October last year.

I will join you guys. Me and Paragon had bad luck last night with no green dropps in SF. We where both trying "new" builds so we sucked a bit (me more than he :p). I still want a Ragos Staff/Wand.

Yes, we had fairly bad luck. And then in SF we built up too much death penalty. In the end there were 6 monsters between me and the rest of the party that was all dead, so I could not get at them with rebirth. I was able to pop the two rangers. But there was a mesmer and a priest close together, so my mesmer did not have a chance, since I had only limited healing, so we had to give up, since Paragon and Mairiiv was on about 60% DP.

At least Paragon got the one green. :D

I got killed in the well once when I was so distracted by all the allianze chat that I did not even see I was loosing health like crazy, but fortunately not again, after that, after I switched off allianze chat.

The problem is that if we all stand in the well, the whole party has -5 health degen and there is no way the monks can keep up. We have to step back out of the wells, or the party is all killed in no time.

I agree they are worse, being more of a magic user myself. Especially for a 55 hp mesmer or monk. :D But warriors do not notice them as much.

not notice it, I notice extremely fast when I cant do any of my attacks....my build consist of the elite skil where you get energy per successful attack and then some energy using attacks....I moved away from the adrenaline based sword attacks as the ones I liked all worked at their optimum against foes with flesh....

In preperation for tonight, what would you guys think to be a good SF build? I'm a W with sword specialisation got a 15-22 damage sword with 15 % damage, Then I have a shield with 16 armour and -2 Damage taken when enchanted. I also have 2 good hammers for if I move to Hammer mastery. Then as secondary profesions, I was a Me so I have a lot of mesmer skills, as wel I have for Ranger a L17 pet lizard with the basic ranger skills. I'm willing to buy some monk skills if you guys think I should take monk...

Its a Elementalist/Necro build.

But I loath to give you that one. Since you will only blmae me for dieing on your super fast ZA connections.

It would stil be interesting to know what the build is, but it's good to know that you need extremely fast response for such a build

It is a strange build requireing you to arcane mimic a spell from a ally and use that, if you get it wrong you die.

stil for me it's interesting to know different builds as wel as what they are called, their type....I've heard of a tank build but until I've played this one you posted earlier I'd have no idea as how it is, I've also heard of things like a spike build but I have no idea what it pertains to.

I've changed my build 2/3 times from pre searing to after ascention.....so I've got no experience with builds. I am in my first round of playing the game

2. That build really works...i can tank them now...just need to get the timings right to do the dmg ;)

it is a brilliant and really effective build and melandrus resslience is reeaaallly easy to cap - i did it in no more than 15 min.witjh henchies :p

Ok,

Here is the basic idea behind the build I posted.

You agro ONE group at a time,
once you have agro, You need to kill in this order.
Melee, Ranged, Necro, then the ice golems
If there is a heretic in the mix, it is the first target.

Since you will always be in a stance (90% of the time)
YOu need a +45//-2 in stance shield
also You will need a +60/-3 while hexed shield
This is your MAIN shield.
since you will be hexed 95% of the time the extra health helps a bit.

Ok here goes for the HOWTO
1st, Agro the group, as soon as you get a hex throw up melundru's
then close to hit with sword.
as soon as you hit use dolyak signet.
then cast troll unegent.
And keep hitting the stuff with your one attack
as soon as melundru is ready re-cast it.
same with dolyak
you dont mind getting hexed since you will be at +12 or so regen when hexed anyways

After you have ascended, there are quests you can do in the desert to change your secondary profession.

How did the farming go yesterday night guys, any luck? Sorry about the disconnections the internet just kept dropping

We had crap luck again. We got stuck against two bosses together in SF. We had plenty tanking capabilities, but very little damage dealing (3 x Mo, 2 x W, 1 x E and 1 x R), so we kept on dying there. Did not get a single green. I think a gold ax was the best drop. Then we did another run just of the outside part and I got a green. It was a monk item which I have already picked up, so I gave it to Paragon, since he was the only other party member who has a monk.

I say that's a good idea, I've also got a L11 Monk I think is Shiver peaks. I'm almost through the Prophecies campaign with my warrior, when I'm through(hopefully somewhere this weekend) I'll start to work on getting my monk further....

Just to let you know I am still on course and will be up for much farming once it is over. This coming Thursday i have leave just so i can cacth up a bit.

Over the duration of the course, I cannot play games, watch TV, eat any animal products, have any stimulants like coffee, sugar, cocaine etc. :)

I feel irritable, i am gonna go and kick the dog now.

I helped Paragon to kill the boss one more time. We had to grind down the "minnions" first, so was at 60% DP for a while, but again no shield.

that shield is useless,
the -5 sounds great in theory,
but it equates to a -1 always shield.

I think I will stick to my -2 stance, and -3 hexed shields

Last night I got me N/Me ascended and capped SS. I think the farming will go a bit faster now (hopefully).

It just keeps growing and growing.....

As far as I can remember:
- Talk to the guy when you appear for the first time after creating the character.
- Talk to the trainer and tell him you do not need any training
- Talk to the gate guard to enter the monastery. He gives 2K XP which makes you level 2.

It took me longer to type this than it takes to reach level 2 in factions. :D

Well I went on a little farming mission this weekend... and the in one mission, 6 greens were dropped - one for every member of the team. In total, I collected 6 for myself and thats over about 4 missions in the same area. Some of the items included.... Razorstone, Somedudes Stone Smasher, Brophsomethingorother's Staff. As you can see didn't really memorise the names very well hehe :D One staff had a +30 health +30 health +30 health... yup +30x3... pretty wicked
