This is the first of his books I have ever read and I must say it sucked me in from the beginning. It tells the story of an American pilot that initially starts out flying fighter planes for the American Volunteers Group in Burma, and transport planes in Indo-China after the war. He tells the story in first person and third person, which he does well. I am normally very critical of authors, having read some seriously flawed books lately, but I couldn't find anything to fault this guy with.
It's a story of young love, betrayal, deception, and a fair amount of action. He describes things so well that you actually feel like you're in the story. I haven't read a good book like this for a long time.
I don't know about you, but I've never heard of this chap but I'll definitely be looking for more of his books. There's a synopsis here (http://www.lovereading.co.uk/book/9780755321902/isbn/The-Last-Sunrise-by-Robert-Ryan.html).
